Rev. Al Sharpton and Republican Rep. Jay Love Go at it Over Voter I.D. [Video]
On March 5th, Al Sharpton did what those of his generation do best – march. This time, the reason for the march was the
disenfranchisement of African Americans by new Voter I.D. laws. While in Alabama for the march, The Rev. sparred a bit with local state lawmaker Jay Love.
Sharpton questioned Love, “How do you justify Alabama’s new voter laws when widespread fraud just doesn’t exist?†Love responds, “Well, I’ll disagree with you, in the last three years, we’ve had three people convicted of voter fraud in Alabama… And what I am trying to do as a state representative is protect the sanctity of that vote.â€
What many wonder is, why the “sanctity” of the vote began to matter only after a black man was elected President? Sort of like how the Constitution began to matter only after President Obama was elected. See a pattern?

1) The Constitution has always mattered — that’s why we have a Supreme Court. The questions involve Obama (a Constitutional scholar) and his use or it.
2) The sanctity of the vote did NOT just start with Obama. Donna Brazile was promoting it back in 2000 (you know, when that white guy beat the other white guy). In fact much of
the disenfranchisement claims then were flat out false (for example claims that police roadblocks prevented blacks from voting in Florida — when they one documented case showed a black woman going through a registration checkpoint two miles from the polls, and then successfully going on to the polls and voting.
