Samuel L. Jackson Tries to Get a Reporter to Use the “N” Word During Interview
Samuel L. Jackson is known for his one liners, as well as his bombastic personality, and during a recent interview about Django Unchained, he used his
most identifiable character traits to needle a reporter about the “N” word.
Reporter Jake Hamilton asked Jackson about Django Unchained‘s unending use of the “N” word, and Jackson acted as if he didn’t know which “N” word the reporter was referencing.
“No? Nobody? None?” Jackson pretended. ”The word would be…”
Hamilton pressed on, telling Jackson he didn’t want to say the actual word, but Jackson pushed Hamilton, goading him: “Try it!”
“We’re not going to have this conversation unless you say it,” Jackson said jokingly, giving the reporter an ultimatum, before asking Hamilton if he wanted to move onto another question.
Once Hamilton moved on, Jackson giggled, causing Hamilton to again insist that he wasn’t going to use the racial slur.
“Oh, come on!” Jackson replied.
That’s when Hamilton asked Jackson to say it, to which Jackson replied,“f*ck no!”
“That’s not the same thing,” he explained, before continuing to goad Hamilton: “Say it!”
In the end, Jackson avoided the question and Hamilton, to his credit, refused to use the “N” word.
Hamilton lamented that it was a great question, to which Jackson replied, “No, it wasn’t…………..It wasn’t a great question if you couldn’t say the word.”

It was the worst question. Nothing to lament.
Yeah, sure, words have power unless you take it away. Instead, he played he who should not be named— a la Lord Vordemort.
Jackson was right in this scenario. If you are a reporter and you open the door about the “N” word or the “C” word then you should say the word.
Its like talking to some idiot and they’re saying, “you know”? No, I don’t know what you are talking about or feeling.
If you are going to do your job, do it right and if you don’t want to say “N*****, then don’t bring up the question.
People opposed to Jackson on this issue are not too bright.
The movie was fantastic and I aplaud Sam Jackson! The word is just that a meaningless word!
The reporter should learn from this but I cant blame him for protecting his job as I am sure Jackson would if the coins were flipped!
Kudos, Samuel L!
THE WORD IS NOT A MEANINGLESS WORD
Stupid topic ,and whose the idiot that says its just a word if that were the case then why don,t they call their mother a N****R? then see if its just a word then.
This bald headed ‘niqqa’ is SICK!
This is what happens to negroids when they’re owned by caucasoids!
Jackson is just another bootlickin’, dumb azz negroid, who doesn’t know the True meaning of the word ‘niqqa’ or, who are the Real ‘niqqas’ on this planet…this dumb jackazz would be surprised.
niqqa = a caucasoid; nig*gard; a person, who steals other people’s possessions; a miser
NOW WHAT?
It is as it is in the hearts of some people, whether one uses it or not but God knows the inside of all hearts and we shall be judged accordingly.
The reporter probably was concerned about protecting his job. When you work for a company like that… in the media, public schools, publishing, etc. — you get a lot of scrutiny. And maybe the White reporter just did not want to say the ugly word.
There are some other Black men who are attacking this film.
DJANGO UNCHAINED is stirring up a lot of debate and controversy —
* Katt Williams has threatened to punch Tarantino in the face for the use of “NWord” too much.
* Tavis Smiley gives it 2 thumbs down…says it is not a good portrayal of historical events.
* Spike Lee says that DJANGO UNCHAINED is an insult to his African ancestors.
* Min. Farakhan thinks it is not just a “comical way to show slavery” but a message to stir up a RACE WAR.
Actually, there were a lot of real life DJANGO guys in those times that shot up white folks like that. Their history has not been told as widely. There were some rough BLACK COWBOYS tooo…. like Deadwood d**k and some others. Did you see the movie POSEE? It was a movie about how some Black cowboys beat the White folks.
From The Daily Beast article: ‘Django’ Selling Slaves as Action Figures [@ http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/01/06/django-unchained-selling-slaves-as-action-figures.html ] See how {San}Quentin on the QT disses ‘Roots’…
}Quentin Tarantino is laughing all the way to the bank. Tarantino and his longtime studio chief-partner Harvey Weinstein took a gamble on transforming the atrocities of slavery into comedic, action-packed entertainment….
Tarantino’s and Weinstein’s audacious release of ‘Django’ action dolls could be perceived as adding insult to injury, especially considering Tarantino’s lack of regard for the legacy of Alex Haley’s epic 1977 mini-series Roots, which is American pop culture’s most prized depiction of slavery.
“When you look at Roots, nothing about it rings true in the storytelling, and none of the performances ring true for me either,” Tarantino told The Daily Beast’s Allison Samuels. “I didn’t see it when it first came on, but when I did I couldn’t get over how oversimplified they made everything about that time. It didn’t move me because it claimed to be something it wasn’t” [WHAT! This guy has got a Whole LOTTA of F-ING Nerve!].
Academy Award-winning actor Louis Gossett, Jr., who starred in Roots, dismissed Tarantino’s critique, he was just “stirring stuff up” and making a “mockery” out of racism.
Gossett revealed that after seeing ‘Django Unchained’ at a Malibu movie theater last weekend, he walked out within the first 20 minutes. “Django is a very small speck on the horizon to what we should be giving energy to,” Gossett said… {
I can name at-least 3 gut-wrenching scenes from ‘Roots’ off the top of my head, that I’m sure has more meaning RE Slavery & its devastating effect on African civilization / culture & the Black Family- than anything in QT’s ‘Django’. They are: 1} When the slavers caught Kunta Kinte & put those chains on him, -2} When that ‘N*GG*R-Breaker’ whipped Kunta to make him stop saying Kunta & answer to Toby, & -3} When they sold Kizzy away from Kunta & Belle & ‘Ole Massa’ turned his back on Kunta as Kunta begged him not to send Kizzy away [& 'Massa's daughter 'conveniently' dissed Kizzy too].
The arrogance of this Guy! He Disses ‘Roots’ as NOT authentic while P*mping ‘Django’ Slave dolls- It’s enough to tell {San}Quentin to his FACE- N-i-GG-a PLEEZE!!!
PS: 2 Other gut-wrenching scenes RE the infamous middle-passage, were from ‘Amistad’ -1} When that dying slave-mother lifted her new-born baby up from that dark filthy ship’s-hold that she was chained to the bottom of, & -2} When they tied 20 weak / sickly slaves to that sack of stones & dumped them over-board- Like GARBAGE- While They Were Still ALIVE!
Those 5 scenes seemed ALL TOO REAL TO ME QT!
IMO QT’s dissing of ‘Roots’ & Lou Gossett’s counter-response should be spread thru-out Black communities & near theaters showing ‘Django’ where Blacks frequent.
I suspect this is not widely known in the Black community, & when it is I suspect that Blacks will agree that Spike had good reason to Hate on QT’s ‘Django’!
