Here Are the 23 Executive Actions President Obama Signed on Gun Violence
If you’ve been watching the news, then you certainly know that President Obama took executive action on Wednesday to thwart gun violence, but do you
have any idea what specific action the president took? Here is a list from the White House of the 23 executive actions that Obama signed:
1. “Issue a presidential memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.”
2. “Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.”
3. “Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.”
4. “Direct the attorney general to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.”
5. “Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.”
6. “Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.”
7. “Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.”
8. “Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).”
9. “Issue a presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.”
10. “Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.”
11. “Nominate an ATF director.”
12. “Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.”
13. “Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.”
14. “Issue a presidential memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.”
15. “Direct the attorney general to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.”
16. “Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.”
17. “Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.”
18. “Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.”
19. “Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.”
20. “Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.”
21. “Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.”
22. “Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.”
23. “Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.”

President Obama did a good job and it was the right thing to do.

There is nothing in these EXEC. ORDERS that says… “take away all the guns” or anything like that. The rightwing nuts are simply exaggerating all of their silly claims.

Just think what it would be like if only the bad guys had guns, if you call the police right now how long will it take them to get to you? now think what harm can come to you in that amount of time!

Some folks like to get on these sites and post long statements that are not even relevant to the article. Or they like to help the fanatics to promote all the craziness about how if we only had more guns…we would have a “wonderful world.” And then there are the Obama-haters who distort almost anything that the President says or does.
Even Pres. Reagan (Republican) banned the assault rifles back in the 1990′s. And the Supreme Court says that it is not “unconstitutional” to REGULATE the guns.

He forgot #24 none of these things are laws they are “Executive Actions” meaning they are non enforceable suggestions. Most of these are already on the books anyway. They are un-enforced because Police Officers and Law Enforcement are not Psychiatrist. As much as the government keeps trying to push this propaganda ideal that they have magical powers and can somehow predict Crime or who is going to be a Criminal like in ‘Minority Report’ the fact is they don’t have that ability and no one does. A psychiatrist is bound by the same rules of confidentiality as any other physician. If you have bi-polar disorder, anger management issues, schizophrenia, mania, a development disorder or Parkinsons without ever having committed a Crime are they saying you get to go on some Public list or the Doctor should report your private medical records to the Police? So when you sign up for Obama Care a doctor gets to ask you whether or not you have any guns? As if that has something to do with your diabetes? The 300 millions guns, AR15′s, Ak’s, 30.6′s, and other weapons are still out there. All those magazines are still out there. Are we forgetting that the Colombine shooter who had no criminal record and was not under the psychiatric treatment of any Doctor walked into a school while the Assault Weapons Ban was in full effect using a semi-automatic weapon? His weapon had 10 round magazines. He just brought 13 extra magazines with him and reloaded. What stopped him was getting into a shootout with an armed Guard on campus not any Laws or background checks. Once the bullets started flying back in his direction he killed himself. Which one of these “actions” is going to stop a psychopath who doesnt care about background checks, under no ones supervision that’s never been convicted of a crime go and do the same type of kiling spree where they steal someone’s legally purchased weapons and walk into your kids school, mall or workplace? If you are a woman on meds after being r*ped and attacked going to psychiatrist and are terrified of a ex-husband or boyfriend stalking you is there a clause in there so you can have protection or do you just get to shrug? If you are a farmer living in a state where there are only 5 cops on patrol and takes about an hour to get to your property and someone comes for a home invasion. Do you get to call Obama and ask permission to open your safe and ammo kept separately? If you are one of the millions of working poor and you have to be out there every morning in pitch Black darkness 2 hours early to catch a city bus from the hood to the suburbs to just find work. Is there a provision in there so you don’t dragged into an alley and murdered since you obviously don’t need a gun to protect yourself? A group of jobless young men of about 9 deep see you coming into the gas station to get some milk and gas driving that brand new Escalade you just leased. You had enough sense to bring a gun but you only have 7 rounds now legally. They jump you with their guns. Their guns hold 15 rounds and up, because they never cared about the guns Laws. Who wins? Does it ever strike anyone odd that all these people screaming about Gun Control now not once did a thing about the murders in Chicago, the gangs in LA or anywhere else until it was a bunch of little white kids? Does it ever bother you that all the people for Gun Control are usually elitist types who never were touched or cared by the violence when it was just Black and Latino kids even though some of them are Black and Latino? If someone on tv, working in the government or anyone working at any Ivey League school so much as got a finger nail broken by a thug. That criminal would be caught and it would be on the news. If you got murdered coming out of a Little Ceasar’s for a $5 dollar pizza it wouldn’t even make the news. As the middle class diappears. It has been known and discussed among certain groups that the only thing keeping the poor from rising up and eating the rich was the buffer ‘middle’ class. That threat of violence running through America is what sparked their behinds to do something. In this country built by Slavery. Do not let anyone convince you to disarm yourselves.
