CNN’s Piers Morgan Rips Sheriff For Telling Citizens to Arm Themselves
It is no secret that CNN’s Piers Morgan is opposed to unfettered gun access in America. The CNN pundit has been so opposed to America’s lax gun laws that gun rights advocates actually started a petition to have him deported. Last night Morgan engaged in another heated discussion, this time with Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke Jr., who suggested earlier this week that instead of “calling 911,” citizens should arm themselves.
Morgan gave Clarke quite the verbal thrashing, asking if Clarke wanted “a return to the Wild West” and demanding that he provide statistics which demonstrate that gun owners are successfully defending themselves.
When Morgan admitted that he didn’t have any statistics as it related to people in Milwaukee defending themselves with guns, Morgan mocked him, saying “You haven’t got a clue, have you?”
Morgan continued: “You want to arm everybody in Milwaukee. You do these racy Hollywood-style adverts, you want them all out there, armed and shooting… What you’re creating is a return to the Wild West in Milwaukee. So I think it’s actually relevant that you don’t have any idea how many people actually need a firearm at home to defend themselves.”
Clarke asked, “Are we going to have an honest exchange here or are you just going to talk over me?” Clarke then backed away from his earlier statement, saying only that owning a gun was a “personal choice”. Morgan shot back, saying that for someone in the position of sheriff, it’s not a personal choice, and that Clarke shouldn’t be encouraging citizens to arm themselves.
