Watch: Paul Ryan Thinks You’re Too Stupid to Understand the Romney Tax Plan

Mitt Romney is running on a platform of being all things to all people. According to him, he isn’t going to increase anyone’s tax burden, but he is going to reduce the debt. Problem is, that’s impossible. You just can’t have it both ways, and that’s why The Tax Policy Center, the gold standard in nonpartisan tax policy analysis, looked at the tax cut and Romney’s promises and declared the proposal “not mathematically possible.”  So what is the Romney/Ryan answer to why they’re not coming clean and presenting a tax plan to the American people? It’s too hard.

On Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace  asked Paul Ryan why he and Romney haven’t provided the math for their tax plan, to which Ryan responded, “I don’t have the … It would take me too long to go through all of the math.”

“But let me say it this way,” Ryan continued. “You can lower tax rates 20 percent across the board by closing loopholes and still have preferences for the middle class for things like charitable deductions, home purchases, for health care. What we’re saying is people are going to get lower tax rates and therefore they will not send as much money to Washington.”

Romney and Ryan have an entire month before the election, and they could use that time to explain their tax plan to the  American people but, according to Ryan, it’s too hard. Translation: They think we’re stupid.
If you pay careful attention to Ryan’s answer, it does sound as if he and Romney are prepared to close loopholes that benefit the middle class, such as loopholes for health care and charitable deductions. But what about loopholes that benefit hedge fund investors and the super rich? Not a word from Ryan on that. If there was any doubt left in your mind about which team Ryan plays for – the 99% or the 1%- his appearance on Fox News Sunday should’ve put that to rest.
