This is Why Conservatives Hate the Government

Conservatives despise government because they believe government gets in the way of people exercising their freedom. Yes, we need police and infrastructure, but some government officials like to throw their weight around and force their will onto the will of the governed, or so say small government advocates. And sometimes, when we see examples this sort of government overreach in action, we understand, at least for a minute, why libertarians and republicans find big government so deplorable.

The most recent example comes from Harrisburgh, Pennsylvania, where a non-profit organization, Green Urban Initiative (GUI), grew a city garden as part of city’s Adopt-a-Lot program.  Sounds good right? If there’s a vacant lot, it’s better to maintain and grow food on it than just to leave it vacant, or at least that was the thinking behind GUI’s garden project.

Last week, Harrisburg City Council President Wanda Williams ordered workers to clear out the garden on a plot at the corner of Sixth and Curtin Streets. At a Harrisburg City County meeting that erupted in shouts, garden owners said they weren’t even notified it was going to be destroyed.

Williams said she had received several complaints about the garden before requesting it be removed. She said people were “engaging in s****l acts, as well as using the area as a bathroom facility and a buffer or place from criminals to hide their wares.”  I mean, who doesn’t like engaging in a little hanky panky in between a patch of tomatoes and cucumbers right?

Kyle Shenk, Board Member with GUI said, responded, saying ”To me those are kind of ludicrous accusations I think were just born of frustration.”

But even if there were complaints, it would seem that Williams could’ve at least contacted GUI to remove the plants and seeds rather than having her workers bulldoze the field. That, it seems, was a clear overreaction and abuse of authority.

It’s ridiculous that this even had to be a story. You are right that it is a complete abuse of authority and a waste of taxpayer dollars.

Mostly that is a front. They will take advantage of it in a second. They hate government for the other kind. They are mostly lying hypocrites. It is a way of falsely pumping their chest.

CONSERVATIVES DON’T HATE THE GOVERNMENT!! It’s a lie and you’re disingenuous if you try to push this idea. Most conservative representatives, in congress, took stimulus money for their district. When natural disaster struck (major storms), the local conservatives, of these communities requested government assistance. It’s the extreme right-wing conservative who pushed bills to limit a woman’s right to choose. It’s the conservatives who proposed government laws stating that a woman has to get an ultra sound before having an abortion. Many right-wing conservatives are trying to get government laws to retrict birth control. Conservatives have yet to reject government support of corporate welfare. Conservatives want national government laws that restrict gay marriage and certain gay rights. It’s not a matter of whether you agree with these issues or not. That’s not the point. The point is , conservatives only dislike the government when what the government does, does not favor what they want. If they are against something, and they can use the government to stop it, then the government is not a problem. Be careful of the “states rights” mentality. REMEMBER, the main reason why the government got involved in a lot of local civil issues, in the first place was because of the way racist used the system to discriminate. Many conservative whites want to go back to that. The government stepped in to level the playing filed. Many right-wing conservatives didn’t like that. Government is not the problem in this country. It’s the government based entitlement programs that helped build the middle class and end discrimination. You’d better know you economic and social history, or else you’ll repeat it!

This is exactly what I said. It is a big fraud and snow job by them. It is a wink-wink to everyone to fake this. I have seen it too many times. The biggest fraud I have seen is Ron Paul. He certainly sit up there and take advantage of every government opportunity he gets. Just like Michele Bachman. It is a totally rune. Their actions are only for other people who believe them. But these same white folks who promote this sham are all talk. They say and preach this to make themselves feel good. It is an insantity in them. It has no reality, logic, or follow through actions.
