Famed Singer Releases New Song: “I’m Dreaming of a White President”
Randy Newman, a singer with a serious sense of humor, recently released a new song called “I’m Dreaming of a White President.” We think that he’s just joking and doesn’t hold any racial animosity, but you can judge for yourself in his interview with Slate.com.
Newman offers the song for free via download and the song makes references to the “great white presidents” of the past. Some would say that the song reflects popular sentiment today, especially among those in the right wing. The Republican Party has been described as the party of old, angry white guys who are upset that they no longer hold all the power.
We’re not dreaming of a white president, we just want good ones. Perhaps by allowing for a broader search for talent, we are giving America the opportunity to find the best person for the job. We also think that the best man for the job might actually be a woman, which could be the next important step in presidential politics.

We are so quick to judge. If you really listen to what he’s actually saying, it’s easy to see that this is a satirical song. For example, in the video, he shows George W while singing “…..how to handle money, or start a war”, or the part about “Lincoln being white, I think?” Like a lot of things, this is being taken way to seriously.
