Yahoo News Chief Says that Republicans “Enjoy Partying While Black People Drown”

Yahoo News let go of a Bureau Chief after some ill-timed remarks were made while his mic was live at the Republican National Convention.  David Chalian was caught stating during an online broadcast that the Republicans are “happy to have a party with black people drowning.”

Chalian was likely referring to the fact that the Republican National Convention was being held in Tampa during Hurricane Isaac’s arrival in the sunshine state.

Yahoo fired Chalian “effective immediately,” and made this statement:

“David Chalian’s statement was inappropriate and does not represent the views of Yahoo!. He has been terminated effective immediately. We have already reached out to the Romney campaign, and we apologize to Mitt Romney, his staff, their supporters and anyone who was offended.”

Chalian released a statement claiming that he is “profoundly sorry” and that it was an “inappropriate and thoughtless joke.”

The rest of statement is below:

“I am profoundly sorry for making an inappropriate and thoughtless joke. I was commenting on the challenge of staging a convention during a hurricane and about campaign optics. I have apologized to the Romney campaign, and I want to take this opportunity to publicly apologize to Gov. and Mrs. Romney. I also regret causing any distraction from the exceptional coverage of the Republican convention by Yahoo News and ABC News.”

Yep. The fact is it was true. I do not believe that all Redumblicans are racist, but too many are. They spent a lot of time espousing rhetoric and incomplete details. I’m not lookin forward to the DNC either. I’m going to vote for Obama, but there are laws that have been passed recently under his administration that could backfire for the nation. I’m cool that he wants to play nice, but the bottom line is he needs to get out of the middle and go hard to the left. Period. Push his agenda down some throats if necessary.

If they showed compassion by going over there to help instead of having a convention they could’ve increased their minority and womens margins…………….he’s right. Suspend him, but give him his job back.

With all due respect, President Obama was attending a high dollar fundraiser at the same time. We have to view it objectively, not with political party colored glasses!

Mainstream media will employ some of the most racist individuals in the name of freedom of speech. So long as these whites call themselves conservative/right wing/teabaggers they get a free pass to say any racist thing they can imagine on the air against black people. But let someone say something negative about white people and they’re fired in a split second.

Of course this is not true of the whole party, but the man is right. However, it is offensive, and he had to be released.

People say dumb thing all of the time. Why get rid of him Yahoo? How many people of color do you have working for you? Look at the whole picture. They knew who to send there to cover the news. They just didn’t know he would be dumb enough to leave his mic on.

“It’s amazing to me that out of all the asinine and inappropriate things that have been said about our President Obama and not one person has been fired over this idiotic behavior but someone speaks the truth about the Mitt (dummy) Romney campaign and all h**l breaks loose. You only have freedom of speech when you are saying what others want to hear…if not OFF with your head attitude prevail’s. Well the message here is LOUD And Clear: Say what you want about the president, but leave the Mitt (dummy) campaign alone! We get the message but the message SUCKS!

@shouldofpickyourowncotton, interesting that you said, maybe in about 20 yrs. they will be gone. This appears to be their equation, or yet motivation this time around. The knowledge that the first African American President occurred because their party messed up, well they want the history books to read, The 1st AA President “could not fix it”, so the republicans got back into the WH and fixed the mess. This country’s racial behavior is soooo distorted it will do anything, and say anything to make themselves rain supreme. If President Obama gets re-elected, “OH YES HE CAN” fix this Economy. And that’s what the republicans are scared of. I wish President Obama’ logan was, “From This Day Forward”, instead of just “Forward”. With a re-election, he can REALLY MAKE HISTORY.

Allison, you got it right. I’ll say again…it wasn’t enough to vote Obama in. We went to sleep on the the senatorial, congressional, gubernatorial elections that weren’t so ‘history making’ so Obama now ends up having every agenda voted down. He has to have votes/support in congress to get anything done! When you have a numbers advantage you can be more ‘hard core’ when trying to do stuff. That’s why he seems ‘soft’ to so many people. I wish more of us understood the system before spittin’ venom.

Someone in the media needs to start investigating some of these reporters, and their backgrounds, and some of the dirt in their lives, and start bringing some of their dirt to the forefront, turning the tables on them. and see how they like it.

Only the ones that report negativity about someone, tring to destroy peoples lives.
