Republican Says People With Obama Bumper Stickers are “Mentally Retarded”
According to ThinkProgress, Pennsylvania’s Allegheny County GOP Chair, Jim Roddey, received wild applause for calling an Obama supporter “mentally
retarded.” Roddey joked: “I was very embarrassed. I was in this parking lot and there was a man looking for a space to park, and I found a space for him. And I felt badly — he looked like he was sort of in distress. And I said, ‘Sir, here’s a place.’ And he said, ‘That’s a handicapped space.’ I said, ‘Oh I’m so sorry, I saw that Obama sticker and I thought you were mentally retarded.’”
This sort of bad joke exemplifies what’s wrong with American politics. Each group sits around in their respective echo chamber and discusses how they’re so much smarter than the other. Meanwhile, politicians rob both groups blind; same old divide and conquer strategy.
Here’s a man who graduated from college, and has served on the boards of Turner Communication Corp and Rollins Communication Corp , just to name a couple, but all he can do is sit back and make r****d jokes. That’s what his politics are about, and that’s how he gets his crowd engaged. It all just makes you wonder about the types of people Americans are choosing to represent them on the state and national level.
For what it’s worth, families of people with mental disabilities should be offended at this more than Democrats. Some people, like Mr. Roddey, have no shame, and are perfectly willing to use the least among us as fodder for laughs. He should be ashamed, but he’s not. He’ll make that same tired joke because, like most politicians, he’s in it for the adulation from his electorate and peers. For him, every party needs a good r****d joke. Sad.

He was a moderate RepuG, if there is such a thing today, Head of our county and a spokesman for a major retirement villiage. He did a good job then, and most of us Democrats respected him. Why he had to do this at a speech, says he is either suffering from dementia or has been swayed by the right wing of the RepuG party as so many others have been. So disappointed in a man whom I thought might be a leader in shaking some sense into the RepuG party – guess not!

My husband and I can look at you and know that you serve your father the devil. Any body that dont want to see Romneys Taxes are ver stupid. Some of you are poor with two teeth and to slow to know how much you will suffer behind Romneys unprincipals. Take that to the band with your slow selves.
“Mentally retarded” was certainly a poor characterization. Black support for the president is obviously strident and based in understandable ethnic pride. I personally find liberals to be very well-intended, just misinformed.
The folly which was so poorly characterized, lies in the liberal mind’s inability to appreciate the often counter-intuitive results of their best laid plans which appeal to the heart, but require suspended acknowledgement of the laws of human nature and economics. Simly put, the first law of economics holds that we get more of which we subsidize, and democrats have invested heavily to reward sloth and failure. We pay people to be (and stay) poor, so it should come as no surprise that get more people who do so. We reward women for illegitimate births and the “returns” on our “investments” are more and more babies born into a cycle of poverty.
There quite simply is no demographic more traumatized by these good intentions than blacks who have been the recipients of entitlements masked as benevolence; handouts that have subsidized lifestyles of dependency but have required their subordination by political profiteers who take the black vote for granted.
After 40 years and $16 Trillion spent on the war on poverty and the Great Society, we have done little but finance a 72% illegitimacy rate (up from 22% when the war on poverty began), generation after generation who have made short-term public housing their homes, 50% dropout rates and rampant disregard for human life.
Since insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, perhaps liberals, particularly blacks who continue to reward democrats with their unwavering loyalty, ought to rethink voting for more of the same policies that have engineered their demise. Voting democrat is not be a sign of mental retardation, but it definitely hints at insanity.
Come November, rethink your loyalty to a political party that depends on your being dependent, an ideology that relies on failure to stay relevant, and perpetual need to remain needed.
