Political Stunt #354: Rep. Allen West Says He Came to Chicago to Open a Chick-fil-A Franchise
Everybody knows Rep. Allen West loves a spectacle. In fact, he probably plays the race card better than anyone on the left. Remember when he said the
tanning tax in the Affordable Care Act was racist? Or when he compared himself to Harriet Tubman, saying he was going to free plantation loving black Democrats? Or how about his most recent gaffe, when he said that Obama wants to make us all his slaves? If you’re looking for a Congressman who is willing to make a fool of himself for the cause, look no further than Mr. West. The man has never met a political stunt that he didn’t immediately want to cozy up to.
This time, Rep Allen West visited Chicago and, of course, couldn’t resist stepping into the Chick-fil-A melee.
“I had to come up from down South because I wanted to try to open up a Chick-fil-A franchise here in Chicago,” West said in an interview with CNBC’s Rick Santelli from the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade.
Of course he was only joking – meaning trying to get on TV so he can get even more adoration from the far right – but what else is new?
Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy has been under fire from LGBT groups for donating money to anti-gay organizations, and opposing marriage equality.
“We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit,” he said. “We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that … we know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles.”
Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel jumped into the fray when he said, “Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago values.”
“They’re not respectful of our residents, our neighbors and our family members. And if you’re gonna be part of the Chicago community, you should reflect Chicago values” he continued.
Anyone who is familiar with Rep. West already knows which side he comes down on, but, of course, he has to tell us. He’s never one to miss a photo opportunity. If he’s nothing else, he’s a man who is always ready for his close-up.

Chick-fil-A employees black people by the way and that is what Chicago values is supposed to be about.
I would rather roll with Allen West because he doesn’t speak for anyone but himself. Fools are you who think Rahm is for you black people. Rahm doesn’t speak for my Chicago values. You tell me black people shooting each other everyday represents Chicago values?
Remember Obama doesn’t speak about black people because whether he gives them jobs or not he will get their votes. Allen West is makingh sure N’Obama deserves my black vote.
