Infant and 4-Year Old Watch Their Parents Die in a Hail of Gunfire
A baby and four year old were spared while their parents were murdered in a hail of gunfire in New Orleans. The children were forced to watch their parents die on the highway and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is still looking for the killers.
Willie Odom and Shawna Girod were the two victims of the incident, and their children, Odom’s son and Girod’s daughter, are left to go on without their parents.
“Multiple bullet casings line the highway,” said Glen Boyd, a spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
In spite of being known for a broad tourism industry, New Orleans is arguably the murder capital of America. The city has the highest per capita murder rate in the country, with most of the killings happening in black, brown and poor communities.
The mayor is attempting to launch programs to dig into the culture of violence that consistently leads to the death of children and adults of all ages. Citizens of the city say that the justice system often leads them to die trying to fend for themselves and their families via vigilante justice.
James Robinson, a 73-year old New Orleans resident, says that the violence is worse than he can remember.
“Every time you look up, it’s a killing,” he says. “It wasn’t no killing up this way too much — not around here. But it’s happening here now. Sit on the porch, you gettin’ shot.”

Jefferson Parish is not NEW ORLEANS. Report these things accurately. We have enough issues, please don’t associate things in other parishes with my city.

Everyone must be vigilant at all times. However, it seems sad when one must be more vigilant among their own kind than among those who are supposed to be the enemy. I sit here and read all the self destruction and how we will be reduced to meaningless numbers in america, well we have done that willingly at the abortion clinics of america! we kill more in a day than all the shootings all year combined! Once Again….Black on Black crime and these ignorant a***s killed these two people in front of their kids. This is one of the reasons are children have some many underlying issues within themselves, because something tragic happened in front of them, therefore they have this feeling, that they a kill too and nothing will happen. Both of these children are in my prayers and I hope that they get the right counselors and counseling so that they too can hopefully be self sufficient, law-abiding citizens.
But REMEMBER EVERYONE…..CHILDREN LIVE WHAT THEY LEARN. and hopefully they will be able to move forward and understand that God is the ruler of all and to have some faith.
