Al Sharpton Says Biden’s Slavery Comments Were “Over the Top,” Then He Retreats

by Dr. Boyce Watkins, KultureKritic.com

The alliance between Rev. Al Sharpton and the Obama Administration has been as consistent as the relationship between Flavor Flav and his clock.  When President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden say something is good, Sharpton agrees.  When they say it’s bad, Sharpton then tells us that it’s bad.  If I get married and my wife is so agreeable, I will speculate that she might have been lobotomized. Black leadership has been effectively co-opted by the Obama Administration and the goal is to keep us doped up and afraid to use our Democratic voice.

This week, the steel alliance was temporarily shaken as Sharpton (gasp) expressed honest disagreement with Vice President Joe Biden for remarks that Biden made about slavery.  In a speech before a largely black audience, Biden worked to further secure the black vote by politicizing the most traumatic experience in black American history.

Biden told the audience that the Republicans would “put ya’ll back in chains” if we don’t rush out and support him in the next election.  Sure, Biden’s party doesn’t say a word about chronic black unemployment and mass incarceration, but you can certainly get the black vote by scaring the living sh*t out of black people with references to slavery.   The Democratic slogan for the black community should be “Sure, we ignore you, but the Republicans will niggerize you all for sure.”

For a moment, Al Sharpton was caught being the man he used to be.  Perhaps thinking that no one from the mainstream (read “white”) media would be listening to his radio show, Sharpton stated exactly what many of us had been thinking. What’s sad is that as soon as he expressed even the most remote criticism of Biden’s comments, Sharpton back-pedaled faster than Deion Sanders did when he played cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaking with my respected colleague, Dave Wilson, editor of TheGrio.com, Sharpton said this:

“I think it was, I think he used the wrong term, I think he might have been over the top. But what, hateful? If he was referring to the middle class, even in front of a black audience, I don’t know how you make that hateful.”

For one second, I could hear Sharpton actually speaking as a true advocate for black people.  Anyone could see that Biden’s comments were definitely over the top.  Then, right after making this point, Sharpton excuses the white man who owns the house for using the very same words he would never allowed to be uttered by a political enemy.  Sure, Joe Biden is no racist Republican, but the man has clearly bought into some aspect of (paternalistic) white supremacy – that’s where the benevolent overseer tells you “I’ve fed and clothed you, which is more than the other guy would do.  So, you better give me what I want or else.”  If you recall, Biden was also the man who said that Barack Obama was “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean.”

For Biden to single-handedly marginalize millions of educated black men across America (as he did this week and also back in 2007 with his “articulate” comment) is nothing less than entirely unacceptable.  When I heard Biden refer to millions of hard-working black men (myself included) as being unclean, dim-witted and inarticulate, my reaction was simple:  “The racist son of a b*tch can go to h**l.”  The funny thing is that I am sure that this was Sharpton’s reaction as well (since he is far more intelligent than Biden), but he allows his fear of an Obama backlash to keep him from saying the obvious.  Progress is never made when the truth becomes the enemy.

The fact is that, as I mentioned in another article, Joe Biden needs to apologize to the African American community.  Al Sharpton knows this, but since he is not empowered enough to say it, I can say it for him.  If Joe Biden would not go before Jews and make a casual reference to the n**i Holocaust, then he has no right to politicize what our ancestors experienced during slavery.  Asking Biden for an apology is not the same as being disloyal to the Obama administration.  Our black leaders must understand that you can remain aligned with someone and still command that they show you at least a baseline of mutual respect.

When support for black Americans is superseded by loyalty to the Democratic Party, our community is in serious trouble.  I admit that I look forward to when this Obama Presidency comes to an end.  Sure, I wouldn’t mind seeing Barack get another four years.  But when he’s left the public eye and returned to Martha’s Vineyard with the other wealthy Harvard alums, we’ll still be faced with the same problems we had when he was in office.  Our solutions are going to come from us, and they are only going to come from courage. Black America’s well-being should not be compromised for any political alliance, no matter how personally rewarding and exciting that alliance may be.

Joe Biden owes all of us an apology, and maybe Al Sharpton does too.

You must understand something about Boyce Watkins. Several years ago, Mr. Watkins was someone for which I had the utmost respect.

However, he is in the process of trying to re-create himself on an international level. I suppose he is trying to become the Black Rush Limbaugh. His ratings as a professor from his students are terrible; so as for his stability as a professor is concerned, he probably sees the handwriting on the wall. He takes every opportunity to criticize the President, and I’m not convinced that it’s because he actually believes what he says; but his negatively written opinion on President Obama causes controversy, and he’s been in the media long enough to know that controversy creates popularity.

Good or bad, he just wants the words “Boyce Watkins” on the lips of a large audience. So the bottom line is that at this point in his life, he would rather have fame than favor with his readers and former supporters.

Maybe he will succeed at being the Black Rush Limbaugh of the day. If so, I’ll give him credit for reaching what seems to be his ultimate goal. Evidently, fame is much more important to him at this point than respect.

    Personally, I’d take the respect.

I agree… There is this idiocy that is going around in which people are saying “I am not worried about Romney in the White House… We survived 8 years of Bush.” The world and America barely survived it, and I am really trying to understand this thinking. Pres. Obama has already tried to reverse so much of the mess we are in but because it has not happened fast enough or personally for some yet, they would move on. I will just not vote.

I for one am not that stupid… To me, that thinking is very foolish. You are allowed think whatever you want but that doesn’t mean it isn’t ridiculous!

I voted for the first time in a presidential election in 1960. I have voted in each since. I will vote in 2012. My grandparents and my parents were born Republicans as was I. Born during Reconstruction, and after, my grandparents were staunch civitans, active all of their lives.

When I voted in 1960 for Richard M. Nixon I did so without share or guilt. Twice I have voted for a Democrat for president. Most often I have voted for a third party. Though I had a time in the 1980s when I was active in the Democratic Party, I have been independent since 1990.

Makar72! If you are too d**n ignorant to vote that is your problem as well as your choice! I place you in the same category as those ignorant a*s hippichristians/Mormons ; who are divided because President Obama’s stance on gays! The so-called black mormons because the republican running is a mormon! I say you hippichristans are full-of-s**t because the bible says,”jugde not that ye be judged.” President Obama is a President of the american people who represent the downtrodden and disenfranchised around the world; and should never govern based on his personal feelings! Regardless of s****l preferences gays abound in all walks of life and are legal taxpaying citizens! You so-called black mormons don’t you are see even they aren’t treating you all as equals! NO! I don’t like or agree with everything President Obama does; but he i9nherited this s**t from previous white presidents and cannot correct it in one term not two for that matter! Consequently; he can’t be any worse than busch or any of the other presidents who brought us to this brink of disaster! I WILL GIVE HIM MY VOTE AND MUSTER AS MANY OTHERS AS POSSIBLE!

It is true Republicans would not put Black people “back in chains”, however, we are moving closer to Jim Crow with this new wave of Voter Suppression and Poll Taxes.

If Republican were concerned with Black people, Civil Rights, and Democracy, they would be outraged at their own party for suppressing African American’s (students, seniors, and low-income) citizens right to vote.

Don’t let the hype and opportunity to comment on a “Black” issue or derail the FOUNDATIONAL, underlying, problem.

Finally, Biden has made his fair share of gaffes, but, he has a 35+ year record of supporting Black people. Don’t get it messed up. Furthermore, cant put mass incarceration or unemployment on Biden. WE in the BLACK COMMUNITY need to step up and improve our schools and make it shameful to kill each other.

    VP Biden owes me nothing.

OK beaver breath, name me just one black person who has been the victim of mean Republicans suppressin the black vote.

You wrote: “If Republican were concerned with Black people, Civil Rights, and Democracy, they would be outraged at their own party for suppressing African American’s (students, seniors, and low-income) citizens right to vote.”

Now your statement makes for great sensationalism, yet entirely lacks validity. Now, I suppose you could call taking efforts to stop people from voting multiple times in a single election as “suppression,” but seriously, that’s like saying speed-limit laws are suppressing a man’s freedom to go where he pleases.

The requirement of bona fide identification to pull a voting lever seems reasonable to me (and also to liberal federal judges). The murderer Eric Holder keeps filing lawsuits against the states with a voter ID law, yet he keeps losing, over and over again. It can’t be about issues of poverty (which is the ultimate black stereotype that Eric Holder relies upon); because to get food stamps or public housing assistance, you gotta provide a picture ID — and there sure doesn’t seem to be any problem for black people to come up for an ID when they are trying to get their bennies. I had to show a picture ID to get my electric and water turned on the last time I moved, yet I’ve never heard one black voice crying in the wilderness about denying black people utility services.

Now, as for Biden’s “35+ years of supporting black people” . . . I can’t think of a single thing that Bided did to support any black person; unless you mean literal support, like foodstamps and free cell phones (and that’s not really support, rather, that’s entrapment in government dependency).

        To me112233:

You claim that there is no evidence of Republican voter suppression, then you need to hear the leader of the Pennsylvania state congress’s statement on how the “new” voter rules will guarantee a Romney win in that state. d**n the election hasn’t even taken place yet, but this dangerous man let the cat out of the bag. How do you think he can make such a claim??? The new rules makes it hard or even impossible for a large segment of the population to be able to cast their constitutional RIGHT to vote by placing restrictions and conditions. ME112233 you need to stop drinking the republican Koolade, and come in from the cold.

Again, name me one voter that has actually has had his/her right to vote “suppressed” by the Republicans. And there is no way that anyone can guarantee that anyone will win the state of Pennsylvania in November, we will all just have to wait and see. Yet, I do realize what you are doing — you (and you leftist buddies) are setting the stage for just-in-case Obama loses that you can blame Obama’s loss on voter suppression, and then gripe for the next four years and claim Romney isn’t a legitimate president.

You have a horrible memory when it comes to bad stuff that democrats have done to people of color, don’t you. Every hear of “literacy tests” and “poll taxes”? Those certainly weren’t the invention of Republicans; rather, it was democrat legislatures and democrat governors that came up with those ideas, yet stupid black people, once given the ability to vote, turn around and vote for their abusers. One would think with the horrible things done to black people by democrat-controlled state legislatures/governors (not to mention the fact that virtually every slave owner was a democrat), that black folks would all be voting Republican. And going back further, virtually every slave owner was a democrat. But just like a battered woman will return, over and over, to her abuser for still another beating, black folks just can’t help but vote for democrats, over and over again. It’s a mental illness, seriously.

I personally think that Joe Biden spoke his heart and that he was “correct” in his assessment of where the Romney/Ryan ticket would take us. We have a tendency to run from all racial references in this country and I personally think it is cowardice to do so.

Racism is alive and well and the mere mention of it makes one run tucking his tail. I applaud Joe Biden (racist that he is) for having the courage to say what Al Sharpton, Boyce Watkins, the President or any political/public figure won’t say. Every time slavery is mentioned we ‘gasp’, moan and get all indignant as if we have exposed some holy artifact. The fact is that slavery did exist, still exist today (according the 13th Amendment) and will get worse if we put avowed racist back into the White House.

I pray for the day when we get enough b***s to tell the truth and call a spade a spade…do with that what you want.

Gasping and moaning and getting indignant just makes you look silly, and it provides entertainment to those who would bait you just to see you act predictable. Thinking about how close to chains that the lack of an education, opportunities, and personal safety are is a reason to be angry, and to make sure you vote on election day. Insurrections do not survive, but voting does.

      @ancestors:

What I don’t OVERstand about our FORCED enslavement, which was done by xtians, muslims and other races…is why don’t his-story books NEVER write or print in their lying books, is that Afrikans ruled whites, also!!!!

The Black Muurs aka Moors, ruled Spain, Europe, Greece and Scotland BEFORE they were FORCEFULLY enslaved. Our True OURstory DID NOT BEGIN WITH SLAVERY! When we mention ‘slavery’ Blacks NEVER mention that caucasoids were the FIRST ‘slavs’ who were enslaved by their OWN PEOPLE in England!!!

      HERE’S OUR TRUE OURstory:

The history of the formidable “Black Indigenous” is almost totally unwritten, such as the powerful African-Seminole Alliance in Florida that fought the United Snakes Army, Navy and Marines to a stand still for forty years.

The historical “Father of Military Strategy”, Hannibal defeated Rome after crossing the Alps on elephants in 218 BC. His tactics are still taught in leading military academies of the United Snakes, Europe and other lands.

The original “Knights” were Carbon-Based, including the “Knights of King Author’s Round Table”. The term “knight” came about from the “night” or dark color of their skin.

AfRaKans ruled Europe for 1400 years and introduced the concept of royalty to the uncivilized Caucasians. That is why some of Europe’s oldest royal and noble families are called the “Black Nobility”, though they were “pale”.

The Muurs ruled Europe for 700 years including Spain, Southern France and much of Scotland and North AfRaKa. They civilized the Greeks who transmitted their culture to the Romans. The Muurs also restored civilization to Europe bringing the dark ages to an end.

The original “Asian” people were Carbon-Based and many of them still are “dark-skinned” in Southern China and Asia. The word “Asia” means “dark-skinned” which is why The Honorable Elijah Muhammad of the Nation of Islam always called us the “Original Asiatic Black Man”.

By the way…when the unuted snakes of a******s bombed NAGA SAKI it was the area where the BLACK JAPANESE LIVED!!!

There is a family (tribe, race) called the “Nakhi” in Southern China. “Na” means “black” and “Khi” means “man”. King T’Ang or Ta was the Carbon-Based Ruler of the Sheng (Chiang) Dynasty 1500 to 1000 BC.
It is his people who were called the “Nakhi’s” and they established China’s graceful Calligraphy.

China’s first emperor, the legendary Fu-His (2953 – 2838 BC) was a woolly haired Carbon-Based Man who established the government and originated its social institutions and cultural inventions.

The first kingdom in Southeast Asia is call Fou Nan whose inhabitants are described as small, “black” men. The “Ta’Anu” or “Twa” of Khamet are Japan’s oldest known inhabitants and Japan’s tradition calls them a race of dark-skinned dwarfs who originated out of Khamet and are the same original race and type as the Australian Aborigines.

Many Japanese are reported to bearing a resemblance to the South AfRaKan Bushmen, misnomered Pigmy’s. There are also many man-made Howa-Khufti’s called mounds in China and Japan. The Chinese claim they don’t know how they got there. The Japanese claim the one’s made of stone are not indigenous to Japan.

The highest belt you can wear is called THE BLACK BELT in karate, which honors the BLACK AFIKANS, who introduced this sport to the world!!!!

Ancient Japanese proverb: “For a samurai to be brave, he must have a bit of Black blood.”

I REPEAT: OURstory DID NOT BEGIN WITH CHAINS!!!

The left-wing media put Al Sharlatan and Jessie Hijackson in charge of black people upon MLK’s death. It was an ingenious play of the lefitsts to replace an effective leader (MLK) with two clowns, while at the same time completely tricking the black masses into thinking that the left-wing positions on issues were the right ones. The media elites (aka white democrats) could have annoited anyone by giving them a microphone and 30-seconds on the nightly news, so they picked these two clowns because the media knew that Sharlatan and Hijackson would be willful puppets for left-wing causes.

There is a huge difference between MLK and these two clowns — MLK was wise enough to avoid endorsing political candidates/parties. He understood that he needed to stay focused on the message, and public endorsement of one side or the other would have the effect of alienating a rather powerful constituency the (aka, the side you didn’t endorse). But the media was right — in exchange for fame (and the money that goes with it) Sharlatan and Hijackson dellivered and permanently locked in a blindly loyal constituency to the democrat party, the very party that just a few years prior had refused to let black people into “white” high schools and universities and openly supported and defended Jim Crow laws.

And yes, numerous black preacher were, and still are, co-opted by the movement, whose prinicpal desire is to reduce the number of black babies born in this nation. This has become as habit forming to white people as drugs to junkies; of choosing our so-called leaders for us without us uttering a word as a result they feel it their duty and obligation to do it for us to choos an OVERSEER who is black! The likes of Al Shiton and Jesse Jackson Sr. sure as h**l aren’t them! I truly believe that we are so worried at being politically correct that wisdom seems to escape us as a people. We just read in this colum that black women are experiencing bankrupcy at an alarming rate. Additionally we know that 5-6 times as many black women get hired than black men. We have just seen a black male seed murdered because he was black in a place someone believed that he did not belong. We just had a black young lady win a gold medal for being the worlds best at what she did and she was reminded by comments regarding her hair that she had just not quite arrived. We continue to take out each other because some had an advantage that others were not afforded. We elected a black man to take out the trash and we get upset and disrespectful because of the stench that is associated with the task at hand. We have as black men and women have absolved individuals that do not have the best intrest of ourselves and our children at heart. What happended to BET after Mr&Mrs Johnson sold it. Bondage whether it is mentally, emotionally, or spiritually is still bondage. Chains can be economical, mental emotional or physical. A industry called prisons are being built in view of the mental stability of black males at the age of three. I can go on and on and on. The infighting must stop. We can agree to disagree. However the overall program is more important than any one individual. Unity is a must if we as a people are going to survive as a people. Two many of our fore parents died because they had us in mind for us to trash each other and stomp on the dreams of our children and grand children. A little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing. I Say we should go with the hand that we have been dealt. Hand with the Brother in the HOUSE!!!

@Reverand D. Your eloquence and clarity is appreciated, but the bottom line must be deduced that we are all insane to varying degrees and levels. We are piecemeal uninformed, and poorly educated on all levels. Our history speaks of a people who’s families and unity has been long distorted or destroyed!

To make matters worse. Those who created this mess hold power over more than half the world now, and they never stop conspiring to make our lives “a living h**l”. That said. There will be no unity, no enlightenment, no peace, no love…invariably there has never been, and their will never be anything possible for us, because we do not have the power, the frame of mind, nor the ability to thwart the constant attacks on us, and the way those who conspire against us, cause us to attack each other!

Look around the world and you will see families and neighbors attacking each other! That is part of a strategy well initiated and instigated by the White-supremacist “Anglo-elite cabal” and their cohorts! You and both know that we can express our truth’s to power until we die, but few will listen! We also know that if we were able to affect millions of “blacks” like Dr. ML King. We would be targeted for death just as he was!

As Blacks it is inate within each of us to be leaders and collectively we can change our status in this country or d**n WELL DIE TRYING! Dr. King reminded us; “If a man has not found something he is willing to die for; he is not fit to live.” I personally am no martyr but aold as I am I can’t live too much longer so I am willing to die for the betterment of those coming behind us! Dr. King also said, “we will never get the klu klux klan to implement the Civil Rights Bill! Dr. Boyce Watkins, I am sure that I don’t really need to tell you this, but please do no back off one bit from your comments and analysis. As I have observed the response to your comments from afar, what I have noticed is there is very little credible debate on the facts and evidence you present. Most of your critics appear to respond with personal attacks against you, instead of a well thought out objective rebuttal.

I am sure the we all care passionately about the black american community. Unfortunately, it appears the a lot of us get hung on color instead of character. If the color of one’s skin made everything a person did right, then how does that explain the black-on-black crime epidemic – this is really the biggest threat to the social fabric of black america. Race is really only important if everyone shares the same culture and background.

The cold truth that people don’t want to discuss is the President Obama’s does not share the same history as most black men and he has little in common with us culturally or socially. Yes he married a black woman, but does not change the fact that he was not raised as a black american male. If you read a profile of how Obama was raised, I would bet the house that most people would conclude that profile belonged to a white man. I am not suggesting there is anything wrong with Obama as a person, but the reality is that at the core his needs as a politician come before all else.

To your point about the VP Joe Biden comment, I suspect that if Mitt Romney of one of the Republicans said ‘that Obama or the Democrats are keeping “Ya’all’ in chains’, everyone would not be so understanding?

@Allen. You are right on every count sir! I would like to add that there are things about Mr. Obama that many do not know, and that some do not want to hear or know. There are many instances about him, his father’s reasons for coming here and the reasons for his mother having and raising a black child!

In order to accept the level of obvious conspiracy one must understand the kind of Anglo-elite world conquering hoard we are dealing with! If we keep forgetting what they are capable of, we can never grasp the lengths of scheming and planning they go through to fool, and connive the world’s masses!

To give an example. South African “elite” etc., were losing billions in wealth because after decades of stealing the resources and abusing the “black African” aborigines. The elite’s national media could no longer hold back these secrets from the world! The elite in all their strategy and wisdom, decided that the best thing to do was to release a man (Mandela) they had imprisoned for almost three decades and make him their “surrogate president”! Problem solved. In fact it worked so well that they (the elite cabal) knew they were ready to use a “black surrogate” here in the US. But not any kind of “black”. It was one of the blacks they had primed for the position ever since he was a child! A “surrogate-sleeper” they had created by bringing African men into the country from Kenya etc., to mate with volunteering “white women” for what should be the obvious reason to thinking enlightened people who study the ‘machinations’ of an Anglo-elite domineering group!

Mr. Obama, similar to Mr. Mandela, are the tools of a very brutal, tyrannical world-dominating ‘elite cabal’! They (Obama and Mandela) came about their usage from different aspects, but they served the same basic purposes which is to be ‘willing’ “surrogates” for the ‘hiding’ would be “Kings”! Obama is the “sleeper”..and Mandela the imprisoned rebel.

If you were told that your reward would be untold riches, power, and security for life would you toss all of your morals and ethics aside to accept a “surrogate” position? Most people would literally ‘kill’ for the opportunity!

Don’t simply dismiss my submissions, but do exhaustive research. If you dare!

If we, as black people, follow, and listen to what these paid race hustlers say, and accept them as our leaders, then we are surely doomed. This is one of our main problems, and it is just the “tip-of-the-iceberg” as to why we as a people in this ‘US’ will never, ever be able to have strength through unity and love!

This is what the “elite” count on, and because of this, they have no fear while they [ransack] any and every freedom we ignorantly think we actually have!

Dr. Watkins has proven himself to be a good man in many ways, simply because he cares enough to try to enlighten us all, and share his views as to what our problems are, and how we might be able to improve our station in life with liberty.

Some people will never have the proper level of reasoning and logic, or clarity of mind to tell the difference between those who love us and those who are deceptive, conning, grinning, selfish liars!

for those who say it dosnt matter who is in the white house, remember the next president will select two new supreme court judges to the already conservative bench.

the goal of the teanuts is to rescind all gains made by dr. king during the civil rights movement. don’t be surprised if affirmative action is struck down next year by this conservative court.

people of color will soon be the majority in this country, whites understand the next electio will be critical in who wins the election because that president will select the next two judges.

you would think these black educated fools would be focused on educating our people on the plan of the racist whites towards black people.

they are suppose to lead, not divide us. i guess divide and conquer is still this oldest trick the slave master use on negroes like boyce, tavis and west to ensure we focus our hate on one another instead of the slave master so he can stay in power.

Clinton was said to be favored by (ignorant) “blacks”! If they had done any research, they might have discovered that Clinton represent the “elite” as they put more blacks into the prison industrial complex than Reagan and Bush combined, and that he also helped the “elite cabal’ through it’s CIA to import tons of crack cocaine into African American neighborhoods!

General Colin Powell portrays himself as a “good man”, but how can a soldier at the top levels of the elite’s “surrogate” structure be good? He represented them as they bombed and murdered millions of African across the diaspora. He also helped them important crack cocaine via military planes! Know who your enemies are, for they are actually, and literally, every member of the ruling parties!

A “good man” was Martin Luther King, but our most powerful and wealthy “blacks” let him down, and because they did not support him with all their might, he was easy prey for the ‘Anglo-elite’, and because he spoke truth to (their power), they shot him down like a wild deer!

He is NOT the president of African-Americans, he’s the president of the United States of America!!! Anything and everything he’s tried to do for ALL of us has been blocked by Congress. What he does for America benefits us all. When he brought the troops home from Iraq, there were Blacks, Whites, Hispanics and whatever other nationalities coming home. When 9/11 happened, it didn’t just affect one race, ALL races of people were hurt. The President gave the order to kill the person responsible!

I agree with Allen on one thing a one thing only. Everyone has the right to their opinion and Boyce certainly has the right to critizise any President. However, we must look at the underlying theme of Boyce and others that continue to attack Obama and his policies. That theme is consistent with not pushing the agenda that they think should be his focus. Although I consider myself as a soldier in the liberation of Black folks everywhere, I never looked at Obama as the one whose sole task has been to deliver us. That friends can only be possible if we can achieve what none of our ancestors throughout time has accomplished, that would be to unify as a people. to have an objective as a people to pull ourselves out of sense of dependency on government and others we see in power positions. On another point, this debate about Obama not being one of us because he was raised by his white mother and grandparents is lame at best and completely idiotic at worse. Throughout mankind, mulattoes have been caught in between the white power structure of one of their parents and the poor black structure of the other. Each one of them had to choose which culture they had to choose from (Knowing full well they can bounce between both) from. There is no question who Obama chose to identify with. Not only did he marry a Sister, he resided in one of the most Afrikan Centered churches this country has. His walk, body language, and speech patterns reflects our heritage. So lets stop making that a issue for why he hasn’t done what some think he should be doing. Better yet, what are we doing (especially those that criticize his every move) to liberate ourselves? Other then discussing the problems that we’ve been listening to for centuries. What solutions are our writers, academics, religious leaders, media professionals coming up with. Let’s have that discussion!

Cut and dry! All this media hype matters not to me. The bottom line is, as citizens we all have the choice of who to vote for or not to vote for, or to even stay home at election time. As a black, intelligent adult, I do not need a black commuity leader at the local, state, or national level to influence, branwash, or bully me into voting for who they support. All this black/white c**p needs to cease! As American citizens we have the right to choose, right to our opinions, right to vote and participate in elections, so just do it. These racial discussions and accusations have worn themselves thin with me months ago. Just act and do what your conscious tells you what is the right decision for YOU without relying on what someone else says. Everyone that can read and comprehend, hear, and that has intelligence to think, need to do just that. All these attention-seeking, greedy, corrupted, ill-mannered people, need to put a muzzle on their mouths. I for one am sooooo sick and tired of people making everything a white vs. black country. There are many American citizens of many ethnic groups and races, blacks and whites are the only ones that are continuously ranting and raving always about RACE! Get over it and get a life! Enough said! I am soooo over it all!

Maybe it’s me, but some of you seem to miss the point in some of Dr. Watkins commentary on President Obama. I don’t entirely agree with every single article Dr. Watkins write. However, some of you guys completely go apeshit at the smallest critique Dr. Watkins have in regards to President Obama. Of course President Obama is doing his best to help this country in the midst of a racially hostile enviornment with politicans leading the way for such animosity. This is something we have never seen with any white President in recent years – if ever. As for Vice President’s Biden’s remarks, it didn’t bother me as I understood the context considering the racism consistently hurl from the GOP every hour of every day. I was a little taken aback by the remark, but basically brushed it aside. It’s the white media making it into a huge issue. And Lord know, if it is has anything to do with blacks, they feed off it like vultures. Dr. Watkins was simply making the point that such terms alluding to horrific events in history or groups would have never been uttered to another group of people and he’s right. Those groups have more respect from these politicans. Lets face it, they don’t really respect us. Although I feel Biden shouldn’t apologize, I understand where Dr. Watkins is coming from. Dr. Watkins is also right in terms of President Obama’s tendency to patronize African Americans from time to time. Yet he wouldn’t dare cross that line with a group of Jewish, white gays, or white women, or Hispanic voters. And lets face it, Democrats know that most African Americans will support their party regardless of the disrespect hurl at us because the GOP isn’t even a viable alternative. We agree with some of the politics of the Democratic community even as some of these politicans disregard our own interests. It’s insulting and disrespectful and yet they and President Obama probably assume the average black person is too dumb to realize when they are belittling our intelligence. I support President Obama. There’s no doubt about that because I do think he is doing the best job he can under the circumstances. However, all because Dr. Watkins is critical of some things regarding the Obama Administration and the President himself doesn’t equate him to hating the President or whatever. Geez, some of these comments are truly out of this world.

These posts remind me of the magicians trick, misdirection. If slight of hand doesn’t work, misdirect the fool audience. I expect to be played for the fool by whites who think the are better educated than me but I utterly resent a few book-read blacks who, for ego satisfaction, offer hypothesis as facts, at the expense of miseducating the black masses just as appallingly as whites could have done.

Thank you Dr. Watkins for telling the truth. But if the head man has no respect for black people why would the second man in charge have any? He felt comfortable to say what he did and to not have any backlash because the head man has none either. Blacks have been sold a image, and that is all they are getting. As far as being scared of the Republicans, it isn’t going to make a difference for us who is in the White House. It will at least be a class war and not a race war with the Republicans. That means all poor folks will catch it. They are at leaset and equal opportunity distributor. The way it is now. Anyone but blacks have value. The immigrants get to keep thier jobs for 2 more years with amnesty. (did you see all those employed folks standing around for amnesty) woman get better health care and gays get a shout out from the White House. Since blacks are in the bag. No need to do anything. They will bow for image. The vote comes cheap!! Thank you for expressing what I have been feeling.

But stop the villifing of President Obama in your rag sheet. Can’t you see that Black folks will never accept you as the Black Rush Limbaugh!! And by the way, as you leave the scene, take Yvette with you. Maybe you can team up with Tavis and Cornel in a reality show!!

It is obvious who owns Biden. Politicians sell their influence. Democrats have big pocket owners just like Republicans. The planned not accidental outing on gay marriage was Joe seeking to make money like Obama. That’s why he beat Obama with the revelation. Politicians are in office to make millions by any means necessary. The backlash from the gay marriage endorsement has JOE’S SUPPORTERS VERY CONCERNED. THE CHIC FIL A huge support and potus slipping in the poles makes them desperate. Hence Joe has to do something for his wallet I mean supporters. Moonhead is getting paid too. I hope he is anyway. I have come to discover that after my investment in the stability of our Black People I have yet to enjoy the intrest on this investment. The intrest I speak of is stable famlies, men and women. The education of our children and the diverse income needed to assure the stability of my great grand childrens children. It would be wise for all African-Americans to GET ID, REGISTER, AND SHOW UP AT THE POLLS AND VOTE. Here are just a few of President Obama’s accomplishments which help African-Americans:• Lowered taxes for 20 million African Americans through the payroll tax cut, putting $800 back in the pocket of the typical African-American working family.
    • Invested $3.4 billion in African American-owned businesses.
    • Passed the Affordable Care Act, ending insurance company abuses and expanding access to preventive care, which will reduce health disparities for 41 million African Americans.
    • Supported the early learning programs Head Start and Early Head Start, to reach an additional 64,000 children and their families.
    • Doubled funding for Pell Grants, increasing the number of recipients and putting a college education within reach for an additional 200,000 African-American students over the next decade.
    • Invested $2.55 billion in Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and other minority-serving institutions

If Romney-Ryan win in November, it will be a disaster for middle-age citizens especially African-Americans. They will repeal the Affordable Care Health Act and turn Medicare into a voucher program. This will cause Americans who are now in their 30s-40s to possibly have to go in debt in the future to take care of aged parents and grand-parents because Medicare for those currently under age 55 will not have this financial government assistance. Here are a few more things which Romeny/Ryan are planning if they win:

It is less than 90 days to the election…Let’s talk about the election, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan and what he and Romney have in store for Americans if elected: Mitt Romney pandered to the extreme right and announced Paul Ryan as his pick for vice president, guaranteeing that this election will be about tax cuts, Medicare, and the economy.

Ryan is considered a rock star for Republicans, the lead architect of the radical right-wing budget that Republicans are pushing in Congress.

A budget that calls for: Repealing the Affordable Health Care Act and the Dream Act. Huge new tax cuts for the super-rich on top of extending the Bush tax cuts. Turning Medicare into a voucher program and making massive cuts to vital programs like Medicaid, food stamps, Pell Grants, and job training which would greatly impact the middle-class and poor of all races.

New increases in military spending — even as President Obama ends two wars.

Let me put this as simply as I can: Paul Ryan is the author of everything we’ve been fighting against in Washington since Republicans took control of the House — and now Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan want to take over the oval office and America.

All I can say is you better wake up and vote for Obama-Biden and this year vote out the GOP, let’s get a Congress and Senate seated to help him out, he can’t do it alone.

Each of our lives depend on Barack Obama winning, Romney continually states that his focus is on middle class and wealthy, the poor has program to help them.”

Al get over it, what were you doing when unemployment was at 10.67% during Reagan, houses lost during base closures, minority programs in schools cut, and large tax breaks for the wealthy.

Biden came from working class people and can relate to some of the Black issues. However, the Black/African Americans that think they have gotten-over is lying to themselves.

The only reason unemployment and jobs are a hot topic is that the 222-Million Caucasian families have been impacted. We mae through the depression, KKK, voter right supression and more. These are just a few obsticles faced since 1619, we have power to change our lives.

I visited the International Civil Rights Center and Museum in Greensboro, N.C. last week. In the lower level stands a Coca Cola machine, a relic from the jim crow era. On one side of the machine, there’s a coin slot for the amount of five cents for a bottle of coke and a sign said “whites only.” The other side of the machine the sign reads “colored only” and the price for the same bottle of soda was ten cents. This is the era in which many Americans would like to return to. It is the repetitive cry of the right-wing extremists when they bellow about “taking our country back,” and the cry that Ann Romney squealed in North Carolina last week when at a campaign she said, “we’re taking the White House back!” and the crowd responded by chanting “USA, USA!” Wake up people. Peace.

I do not feel that Joe Biden was over the top in his comments. There are many comfortable black people in this country who are not feeling the effects of systematic, pernicious racism. They are unaware of how some people really feel, and what they will do given power and opportunity. Such people fail to see the urgency in Biden’s message.

No one would deliberately vote the KKK into high office. If you study the Mormon’s, you will find KKK at it’s roots. If black America makes the mistake of believing that they have assimilated and are no longer in danger, they may find themselves reliving the backlash of the post reconstruction era , all over again.

So i ask this question to all the “so called” defenders of personal freedom black folks(unless its criticizing our prez), what are we suppose to do to convey our message that we need the change to happen sooner than later? That’s what the politician told us. Are we suppose to follow like sheep and say nothing? Your Bible say ” you have not cause you ask not.” So tell me black bros and sis, what are we suppose to do? To act as an revolutionary, freethinker, abolitionist etc or to just say nothing? In you all’s heart of hearts, be honest, you know that we havent gotten anything these first four years. what make s you so sure that we will get anything the next four? ? I think that is what most of the black folks that hate to hear a politician(and the prez is a politician) get critiqued.

What Biden said was inapporpriate. To defuse the situation, from the beginning, was for him to admit he used poor choice of words. That would have been the end of the story.

For me, Pres Obama added fuel to the fire by justifing his words and defending what he said, again, what Biden said was inappropriate, and Pres Obama should have acknowledged that.

I know black people are proud to have a black president, but at the same time, you cannot give him a free pass. You cannot dismiss his foreign policy or some of the campaign promises he made. I know he walked into a situation design for him to fail. He was told from the beginning whatever had to be done to make him a one-term president, was going to be done. But it’s some things this president has done that even some in his own party are not happy about, but they main silent. The Black Caucus is especially silent, though they are useless anyway.

Black people are not paying attention. We have to start paying attention to what he is doing, other than what the white house is advertising to you. Pay attention to his foreign policy. He’s ordering Drones, killing innocent people. The Middle East is running greed Americans out, now they have set their sites back on Africa and Asia. What this country is doing in Africa is criminal. No one is saying anything.

In my mind, what good is it to have a black president, when has the same actions as the imperialist that came before him. Look at some of the leaders in Africa, they sold their soul and people to the devil. There is no reason why Africans are poor and shot down like dogs, on their land. Pres Obama lied about role NATO would play in Libya. He lied and said it was humanitarian reasons, when it was really a regime change. African immigrants were killed and NATO watched while their boats sank at sea. That’s what the American news media don’t tell you. They made Qaddahfi out to be the evil dictator, though he rule with a hard hand, his people were not starving, as Cuba, Libya has over a 80% literacy rate, healthcare and other social services, he took care of his people. But the US won’t tell you that.

Becareful what you believe from this government. Pres Obama is bought and paid for. Yes, he is the lesser of two evils. Hold him accountable, don’t be blinded by the 1st black president propaganda.

The Obama administration defended Joey The Clown based on the context of his comments.

But context offers no cover for historical and racial insensitivity. Where would Biden be today if he had said they’re gonna “put ya’ll back in the ovens?” Tied to the back of the bus and dragged through Crown Heights?

Barack Obama can afford to be just as insensitive as his ignorant vice-president because he knows that he has the Black vote on lock. What other group facing 25 percent unemployment would continue to support failed policies without a whimper of protest?

The raw elements of the White Supremacy Dynamic hate Obama because he is more effective than they are at what they do best. As a Klansman told a reporter in Mississippi in 1964, during the search for Chaney, Schwerner, and Goodman, “we killed two-year-old Indian babies to take this country.” Barack Obama has proven himself willing to kill children (collateral damage) in Afrika and Asia to maintain and expand American imperialism.

For that reason the imperial elite of the White Supremacy Dynamic loves Obama, and he executes their agenda without a whimper of protest thanks largely to his attack dogs like Al Sharpton.

We know which group holds real power and it ain’t Buckshot Bubba. Interestingly though, Bubba does seem to hold one power over us. He has the unique capacity to pull the emotional strings of the Afrikan American body politic causing them to overwhelmingly focus their attention on his ilk. And for this Lloyd Blankfein and Jamie Dimon are deeply grateful.

Barack Obama is the most brilliant stroke of disguised hypocrisy in American political history. They would be foolish not to reelect him.

Al sharpton and Jesse Jackson need to publicly account for their annual salaries, and net worth, as supposedly our black leaders, as well as the mulatto president of the NAACP, and others. And we need to demand this, starting with Brother Boyce, since he has great contacts and some media power. And we need to be calling for All Sharpton to step down from his organization while he’s over at NBC tapdancing for them and the Obama Jewish administration. The Jews have Sharpton, as well as Obama, in chains, to use the words of Joe Biden, whom I have never figured him to have too much in terms of brains, in the first place. So I’m not too upset with Biden, because he’s simply doing with all of these white boys think, do and say, either behind closed doors or out in the open. If you think like watkins, smiley and west an apology is needed if you are an intelligent , independent thinking black person no apology is needed. Dr Watkins has dramatically since he started his web site. It’s a good thing he doesn’t speak for most of us.

Biiden is the vice-president. Biden has been critized for his out spoken – non thinking mouth for many years. White men have always said what is substantive in their lives. Our present President, who I voted for in 2008 and will vote for in 2012, happens to be Black because he has a black father. As stated he was educated with the “elite” whatever that means, and will mostly likely return to that surrounds unless he is seen at a basketball game. I am in agreement with Minister Farrakhan – President Obama is the keeper of the White man’s WHite House. The white man in control will never respect any type of black man because they fear him. A black man is the strongest, wisest and would be the smart overall if he would only apply and step past the ignorance of educated white men. Biden is no different, I read his book, it was interesting, he just doesn’t like Republicans, not the person who is a republican those are his brothers. Biden grew-up in all white surroundings, then to the white house in all white surroundings, he has no incite on the real black world, neither Rommey. We have to build ourselves, we have to make our own way, not democrats, not republicans, green party, tea party, no white organization is going to die for you, but Obama and biden need our vote, the mexican vote, the homosexual vote, and any other minority group of people’s vote. They will say anything and use any tactic to get that vote. It is not about help any of us, it is about getting back in office, the only way the democratics will get back in is with the aforementioned groups. So what if we vote for Obama because he is black, that is one of my reasons, the other, he is very intelligent, very smart, well educated, handsome, a black wife and black children, wife who is very smart, very intelligent, well educated, wise and strong to support him. Yes Obama is the keeper of the WHite man’s house, and no he cannot do much of anything directly for us, as he should, because no one is going to vote for him to help us, even if he sincerely wanted to. He is the best choice, I would like to have another mulotto run with him, one that passes for white.

Why is it a problem when a white man says exactly what Black preachers, politicians, activists and mostly every black person in the U.S. have been saying for the past 400 years?

The fact of the matter is that some of us are still in a form of slavery due to the fact that some black people are told “How” to think.

This was a wake up comment. That was all. It was not racist because he did not label anyone in a malicious manner.

That comment is something Robert Purvis, John Brown, William Lloyd Garrison or Abby Kelley Foster would have said.

So, leave it alone. Mr. Sharpton should be attacking 50 cent and JayZee for their comments.

Al Sharpton is what is called a talking head, he says what the puppet masters tell him to say, he is an ambulance chaser, and self promoter, I have no respect for him at all.

I also find something very disturbing about 97% of blacks voting Democratic each and every election!

    Lemmings following a pi-piper.

One can not possible believe the Democratic’s are your savior!

Remember President Clinton, the first Black President? I guess because he could play a saxophone he was able to get our 97% vote! He stuck it to us in the end didn’t he.

We are such suckers for for a good speech, it does not matter if the truth is being told as long as it sounds good!

The President didn’t even get to main land America until he was 19, got to go to Columbia and Harvard, and someone else paid for the schooling, his experience is not like yours and mind, he does not relate to you or I, the only thing we have in common is skin color. Without knowing his policies we gave him 97% of our vote.

He has never said what his intentions for America are! You lemmings are not prepared for whats coming when he wins again. Remember how all of the blacks were left behind after Katrina in New Orleans a few years back. The country will be bankrupt, you won’t have a job, the government will not be able to give out all of the freebies, and who will suffer? The lemmings.

No other group has ever given 97% of their vote to a single party at every election, we are either uninformed and are lemmings or we are just foolish and taken for granted neither position is a good one to be in.

Biden’s remarks were not as Sharpton stated “over the top.” Take a look at the party that is fighting for voter suppression, cutting programs that are not Mexican but Arican Americans.

The job and health diparities have pleagued Blacks since 1619 to present. Sharpton has a verve, why is it that he is not protesting and getting people together for self=betterment?

He, Jackson, and Jealous have shown what they will do for the high unemployment rate, blam President Obama.

Black have had the highest unemployment since leaving the south during the 40′. As for education do the following RESEARCH, READ, then RESPOND WE are not stupid people just focus on stupid thing that Caucasians use for distractions.
