Rape Victim in KY Faces Charges for Tweeting the Names of Her Attackers

Savannah Dietrich, a girl from Kentucky who was sexually assaulted, could possibly face contempt charges from the court after she tweeted the names of her juvenile attackers. The 17-year-old violated the court order to keep their names confidential after turned to Twitter to expose them and their actions. Dietrich was angered by the plea deal that the boys who assaulted her took last month.

A Jefferson County District Court judge was asked by the attackers’ attorneys to hold her in contempt for her Twitter tirade. She faces up to 180 days in jail as well as a 500 dollar fine if she is convicted of contempt. The boys, who attacked Dietrich back in August, still have not been sentenced for their crimes.  Before her Twitter account was deactivated, Dietrich claimed that the boys had made her life h**l and that she was not going to protect them. On June 26, the boys pleaded guilty to first-degree s****l abuse and misdemeanor voyeurism.

In an interview with the Louisville Courier-Journal, Dietrich says, ”So many of my rights have been taken away by these boys. I’m at the point, that if I have to go to jail for my rights, I will do it. If they really feel it’s necessary to throw me in jail for talking about what happened to me as opposed to throwing these boys in jail for what they did to me, then I don’t understand justice.”

It seems that Dietrich has a legitimate point.  If a woman is attacked in a s****l assault, why wouldn’t she have the right to reveal the names of those who’ve attacked her?  There are s*x offender registries all over the country and even a new Facebook rule that may soon require Facebook member to reveal a s*x offender status.  If that’s the case, then why was it wrong for this woman to reveal the names of the men who raped her?   They may be 17, but that’s just one year from 18, and if juveniles are being tried as adults for other crimes, then why not this one?

I have got to tell you all that this has probably ruined my entire week. I am going to do something about this. If this court system really feels the need to hold this young lady in contempt, they are really showing us, that criminals have rights even after they’ve violated someone else’s rights and have yet o pay for it. This young lady was well within her rights (FVVCK THE LAW) to let the world know that these monsters took away something from her that she will never get back. Rape should be more harsh a crime than it is. And the laws need to change, because the perpetrator always makes victim’s life a living h**l for years and years, while they get weak sentence or plea deal. Savannah, I am praying for you sister. I hope you heal well mentally and emotionally. And don’t worry sis, they may not get what they deserve by the justice system, but Karma has their number.

This shows why it is the judicial system. Not the justice system.

We need to expose the officials who told her not to tell the names of the boys. Let the world know what passes for justice in Kentucky. Let the world know how young girls are treated, how the so-called law protects males who rape minor girls. This is beyond disgusting!

This is freaking outrageous!!!! How in the h**l is it that the CRIMINALS are getting protected and the VICTIM is getting made into a criminal? WTF is wrong with society?

That judge needs his head examined and the prosecutor who is advocating this needs to be disbarred. What a bunch of freaking nonsense. Has anyone set up a defense fund for her? I’m serious..a Pay Pal account or something at a bank where I can deposit money for her?

Sometime the law is called a grey area especially when race is involved. So since it’s not black or white. Who knows if it’s wrong or right. Who was the law design to protect. Savanah tell it all. Tweet it all . Tell it all we need to know. Just tell it all

This is outrageous, this is why women don’t trust stupid males now. All of those boys should be castrated for that. This will teach them that private parts are just what they mean. Keep your privates in your paints. Savannah Give us the Judge and DA’s name.

And then tell us what they say in court, tell everything. You don’t be quiet for these little sacks of bones. The attorney of these sacks of bones is nothing but an animal as well. Let someone rape his or her kids, and watch what he or she does. Pathetic excuses for humans.

These animals should have had their names and pictures made public so all can see who they are. I am so tired of teenagers getting special treatment and being treated as “minors” when they committ adult crimes. They belong in prison where hopefully they will be treated the same way as they did her so they see how it feels to be violated. The prosecutor made the deal and the judge approved it so they all need to answer for their stupid decisions. Why were they not tried as adults? I also question why she was not told they had reached a plea agreement before they went into to court and can she sue them for taking pictures of the attack and passing them around, isn’t there some kind of law against that? Justice is blind??…in this case justice is stupid. I hope she gets all the media attention she can on this.

I feel for this young lady and I don’t think it’s fair to punish her, she’s been victimized already. I do understand that because the boys were minors, their names weren’t to be revealed but so what. She’s a minor also. She rationalizes that it’s okay to ruin their lives as they have ruined hers.

Sweetie, your life isn’t ruined, you can get pass this in time. Make sure you do whatever to see to it that for the rest of their lives, they have to register in as a s*x offender. What they’ve done to you will come back to them and stick much longer.

    I wish you well.

That is complete bullshit!!!! Everyone needs to be trained in the proper use of firearm. Then watch the rate of crime and violent attacks plummet. Criminals will think twice before attempting there worst. Because they may end up on wrong side of a bullet and end up dead for their troubles.

I would understand it wrong, what she did, had the boys not already pleaded GUILTY! As it stands, she’s not defaming them, it’s not unfounded slander. It’s her true and very sad story and she should be able to tell it! It may even protect her from the boys and their friends and family harassing her further.

Willie Lynch is alive and well in the mind of our people. They are s*x offenders. When they acted out of character they need to be identified as characters. They are for all purposes “THUGS”

Absolutely APPALLING!!!!! This poor girl has suffered enough, and now they want to incarcerate her for venting? SO WHAT if they’re only 17! They were tried as adults, so pulling the “minor” card just doesn’t fly with me. Their names SHOULD be out there, as they’re s*x offenders – and should have to register where ever they reside for the rest of their lives. THEIR lives should be h**l! They’ve earned it. *smh*… wtf is wrong with this system these days? FIX IT!
