Scientists Find Proof of “God Particle”
Scientists working at the world’s largest atom smasher say that they’ve finally found the so-called “God particle”, also knows as Higgs Boson, which
answers many questions about the universe.
Researchers at the European Organization for Nuclear Research, or CERN, aren’t quite ready to say they’ve “discovered” the particle, but that they know enough to say that it certainly exists. So instead of saying they’ve found the actual particle, what they’re saying is that they’ve found the footprint which proves that the particle exists.
“I agree that any reasonable outside observer would say, `It looks like a discovery,’” British theoretical physicist John Ellis, a professor at King’s College London who has worked at CERN, told The Associated Press. “We’ve discovered something which is consistent with being a Higgs.”
Physicists believe that the Higgs particle is the very key to explaining what gives matter mass, which helps explain how the universe was created.
