Morehouse Grad Murdered While “Trying to Enjoy the 4th of July”

Dennis Tellit graduated from Morehouse in 2009, and often returned to his childhood church to do community service. From all accounts, he was well on his way to a successful life.

But on Wednesday night,  Tillet was fatally shot as he stood with a group of friends outside of a Fourth of July house party in L.A. as an unknown shooter opened fire on the partygoers. Tillet and two others were hit.

Family and friends are having a difficult time grappling with this tragic loss.

“This is so unreal, because he was the total opposite of a [violent] person,” says Shedonna Burleson, one of Tillet’s best friends since childhood. “He was so happy and outgoing; he never had any problems with anybody.”

“It was some random dude, like some thug like standing on the corner just point-blank like letting off,” Tillet’s boyfriend, Britten Rogers, reportedly told KTLA.

LAPD Detective Michael Applegate says Tillet’s group of friends were  ”just out there lighting fireworks and trying to enjoy the Fourth of July.” So investigators are not sure what triggered the violence, or whether or not it was gang related.

“We talked about traveling a lot more, and he was thinking of possibly going back to school,” says one of Tillet’s friends. “He was looking forward to his 25th birthday on October 15.”

He was 24 years old.

1st Corinthians 15:33 says that bad association spoils useful habits. Hopefully this scripture will help save a life!

THE WILL and WORD OF GOD is never “” inappropriate and unsympathetic”"

If people were to follow it more ? Less evil and wickedness would reign to harm, hurt or kill good people.

I Wish The Police Would Start Shooting & Killing Worthless Pieces Of Trash Instead Of Arresting Them And Letting Them Set In Jail After They Have Taken Lives Of Good And Decent MEN & WOMEN. God Bless The Young Man’s Family & Friends. I Pray The Police Find And Shoot The Person Or People Who Killed Him.

Butch, you’re an a*****e. you can’t use the cover of scripture to defame the victim.

Random gun violence in the African American community is an epidemic and continually robbing innocent people and families of lives, opportunities, careers, adventure and friends. Regardless of Dennis’s associations he didn’t deserve to die by a stray bullet because some idiot decided to let loose and start shooting randomly.

This is an EXTREMELY sad situation. The life taken could have been the very one to save many more. I pray that his family, loved ones, and friends are able to get through this apparent tough time. God Bless!!
