Barney Frank, First Openly Gay Congressman, Gets Married

Barney Frank, the first openly gay congressman, tied the knot with his partner, James Ready, on Saturday evening. This marriage makes Frank the first sitting congressman in a same-s*x marriage.

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick officiated the wedding between 72-year-old Frank and 42-year-old Ready in a private ceremony in front of 300 of their friends and associates. Obama was not invited because the secret service would have ruined the intimacy of the gathering. The two met back in 2007 at a political fundraiser in Maine. Worcester democrat and congressman, James P. McGovern, who also attended the wedding,  said that ‘Massachusetts has always led the way, but Barney has been out front on civil rights issues for a while.’

Frank will be retiring after over 30 of service in government offices and over 30 years of inspiring change in the community. Frank has been a trailblazer in social reform throughout his time in politics. he has championed financial reforms and promoted gay rights. Before he was a member of congress, Frank spent 8 years on the Massachusetts House of Representatives. He is the first openly gay politician to be elected to a national office and he is now a happily married man.

Tuh…ppl have the freedom to live and do as they wish but then America also wants to know why God is so angry with it? I mean a congressman who helps makes the law in America creating an act that I am sure he has read in the Bible with his age that this act is an abomination in the sight of God’s eyes???? And he gets married by the Governor??? And America wonders why ther is so much catatrophes, poverty, and hatred here? WAKE UP! THe Bible clearly says….IF MY PEOPLE….Would only….

    Kim,

You’re high on crack. Leviticus is full of obsolete laws that have no place in a modern, sophisticated society. The Bible also dictates how a slave-master should care for their slaves, and these same laws were used to enslave black people. Do you worship a dusty book? Or do you worship God? God is bigger than the Bible. I suggest the latter.

If God removed all the Gay Pieces from this world, then you would not EXIST. Hmmm. Why would you hate yourself in such a way?

Alexalive is right about Leviticus. All you Bible-thumpers need to read the Book. Leviticus says, “Judge not, that ye be not judged ….” I think about that passage every time I hear or read about some so-called Born-Again person going off about the Bible and judging other people. Jesus does not address homosexuality in the Bible. I, a straight black woman, have long appreciated the efforts of Congressman Barney Frank. He has always fought for the rights of people. I shall miss him. I also wish him many more years of happiness.

CONGRATULATIONS to James and Barney. In these days, it really is no use in giving any BIBLE or HOMOPHOBE PROTESTORS any attention. They are actually the ones in h**l with their logic and antiquated understanding that leans toward promoting intolerance, and prejudice. JESUS said nothing on Homosexuality and even if he did, there is great proof to support that JESUS did not even exist– since the bible is plaguarized mythological stories. CHRISTIANITY Is a RELIGION FOR PEOPLE who DONT READ NOR RESEARCH and just want to belong with unvalidated logic.

Ruby from NJ and Alexalive: Jesus’ statement “stop judging” is against the kind of hypocrital judgemental attitude that tears others down in order to build oneself up. It is not a blanket statement to overlook wrong behavior. The bible clearly states that homosexuality is an ABOMINATION
In LEVITTICUS 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination; 20:13If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
It was a sin in the Old testatement and its still a sin in the new testament. ONLY difference now is Jesus became a living sacrifice for us all so we wouldn’t have to be put to death. If we confess our sins he will forgive.
