Prisoner Will Not be Prosecuted For Strangling Another Inmate
A Michigan prosecutor will not charge Andre Marcel Adams, 39, with the murder of another inmate because Adams is already serving a life sentence.
Adams is suspected of strangling Carlos Love at the Alger Correction Facility but won’t face charges because Alger County Prosecutor Karen Bahrman has decided not to prosecute.
“While it goes against every personal and professional instinct to do nothing about a chargeable murder, the fact remains that we cannot obtain additional consequences for the prospective defendant,” Bahrman said in a statement released to the media.
Adams is serving a life sentence for beating a man to death with a flashlight in 2006.
Although Adams will not be prosecuted, the state will still preserve evidence in case it is needed.
“Steps have been taken to insure that the Alger County Prosecutor’s Office will be notified should prisoner Adams pursue any post-conviction remedies and that evidence needed to prosecute this case will be preserved indefinitely,” Bahram’s statement said.
