Louis Farrakhan Speaks to the Racial Hatred Thrust Onto President Obama

by Dr. Boyce Watkins

Minister Louis Farrkhan, never a man to keep his words to himself, spoke about the hatred being spewed toward President Barack Obama and his family.  He goes on to contextualize how this hatred is built from historical resentment of African Americans who either fail to “know their place” or demand that they be placed in positions of power and leadership.

Farrakhan’s remarks in support of President Obama might be surprising to some, after he bashed the president for being a Christian in support of gay marriage.  But Farrakhan’s words make perfect sense to those who understand that you don’t have to worship Obama in order to support him.  There is a clear difference between holding your president accountable and disliking him.  Similarly, there is a clear line between supporting your president and agreeing with every decision he makes.

To some extent, supporting a politician can be like raising a child. You know that your black child has obstacles, but you never let those obstacles be a consistent excuse for him not keeping his commitments to you.  Sure, the teacher might be mean and racist, but that’s no excuse for him to not do his homework.  Yes, the boy down the street might call him nasty names, but that has nothing to do with whether or not he cleaned his room last night.

In some ways, some end up treating President Obama like that spoiled child being raised by a parent who feels sorry for him.  Maybe because the boy doesn’t have a father at home, the mother showers him with Christmas gifts every year, doesn’t make him clean his room and allows him to be lazy.

Maybe because he’s a black male dealing with a racist society, she doesn’t yell at him for living in her basement well into his twenties, sitting in front of the TV all day playing X-box in his underwear.   In other words, she might think that loving her son and empathizing with his pain means that she shouldn’t push him too hard.  After all, the world is pushing him hard enough, and by getting on him for what he’s not doing, she may feel that she is adding to the weight of his oppression.

This line of thinking is what creates so many men who never learn the responsibilities of manhood.  They are raised in situations that spoil them, never teach them to work hard and never demand accountability. As a result, such a man grows up thinking that he can make 10 babies and not pay child support.  He thinks that he can live with his mama until he’s 32-years old.  He thinks that he can break the law and then cry in the courtroom when the judge sends him to prison.   It’s all a very familiar process and many of us know men like this in our own families.

This line of thinking must also apply in how we process the good and bad of the Obama Administration.  Demanding something for your vote doesn’t mean that you’re piling onto the criticism from the Republicans, it means that you’re doing what you’re supposed to do.  Also, supporting the president doesn’t mean that you have to fall in love with him.  There is no room for love in politics.  That’s like falling in love with Wal-Mart:  Their goal is not to love you; rather, their consistent objective is to get as much money from you as they possibly can.

They say that you’re wasting your vote if you don’t show up to the polls.  Actually, you’re also wasting your vote if you support a politician and ask for nothing in return.  Farrakhan, by remaining supportive yet critical, is maintaining the objectivity necessary to make good political decisions.  He is actually in alignment with Colin Powell, who makes it clear that he is no one’s political slave.  Ironically, although Powell and Farrakhan appear to be on different sides of the political fence, they are very similar kinds of black men:  They both believe in old school values, have strong leadership ability, and understand the strategies necessary to win battles and wars.

Maybe we can learn a few things from the both of them. Farrakhan’s video is below.

He is quite right, of course. Whites are terrified of what President Obama means for their never-ending feeling of entitlement to White privilege – which they know can only be held onto by force. But the use of such force is shaming for Whites because it reveals their White supremacy. That Whites have painted themselves into a corner with their race hatred and xenophobia is what will ultimately drive them to a lemmings’ demise.

Black America didn’t start losing in 2008; and it’s not going to stop losing after he’s gone.

Black folk don’t care enough about themselves for Obama to have made that much of a difference.

Minster Farrakhan is absolutely right! The election of Obama did spark hope and change FOR US NEGROS. Seeing the blatant disrespect of our president (because he is black) only shows what America really and truly believes about us. Even as president these folks think they don’t have to respect US! Now its time again to forget about hoping they will see the light. It’s time to change our stagnant, all is well attitudes and demand respect, equality and revive the Dubois spirit. This is our wake up CALL! Educated Negros terrify America’s racist. They rather see our men locked up, dead, cracked out, or feminine. I don’t agree with everything Obama does BUT I REFUSE to talk negatively about him. I supported him when he was senator of my state, in 2008 and WILL continue to in 2012.

Add to that the sledge hammer he has taken to our constitution rights we should be screaming at the top of our lungs!

like someone already said, farakhan’s speech was about hate, nothing about holding obama accountable.

I think Min. Farrakhan’s assessment of SOME white’s distrust and phobia of our black president is right on target. Recently it was reported in the news that over 50% of White Americans didn’t believe that he is Christian, and we’re still hearing Donald “Duck” Trump and that racist Sheriff in Arizona claim proof that Obama isn’t an American. But, on an unrelated note that I’m curious about, does anyone know what Farrakhan did with the 8 million USD Quadafi gave to Louis? Or the millions he collected to build that medical center in Chicago? Or the 100′s of thousands he collected in donations to create that line of cleaning products under the brand name “Power?” Or the 10′s to 100′s of thousands I saw collected at the Million Man March?

he didn’t receive the money from QUADAFI the U.S. government told him if he took the money he would not be permitted back in the U.S.A. as far as all the other money you mentioned I think it was used to build an economic infrastructure for the NATION OF ISLAM…hope this helps.I have no problem with Min.Farrakhan I wish more pastor’s were bold enough to follow his lead…

boyce, are we listening to the same video? you took farakhan’s speech about hate towards obama and twisted it into a conversation about worshiping obama, and the difference between holding obama accountable and disliking him.

you’re using the minister reputation as being controversal to mislead the readers who do not take the time to listen to the video. not once in the minister’s speech did he talk about holding obama accountable or any of the other issues you raised in your piece in the video.

in the video, when the minister talk about the climate being built up by racist whites and jews to kill our brother, he was remiss in not including you in that group.

people please listen to the video before being manipulated by boyce by using words/topic never mentioned by minister farakhan to increase traffic on this site to attract more white advertisers for profit.

shame on you boyce…how low are you willing to go for a dollar? i see a pattern in you using the minister to support your disdain for obama, be careful, you might get a visit from the F.O.I.

Well, now is a time of Black people to have a very real “Reality Check.” We have four year of political and social disconcern over the actual plight that we face.
For Obama has reached out to these white people across the ale and now Obama has never spoken to Black people and has no interests in speaking to us.
As we come to the another year to the next election, for we have come to a very interesting fork in the road of Black America. We have to make a choice of coming election for the presidency–we see a comical team as among the GOP–while at the same time we see a very articulate and polished protector of corporate capital in Black face.
It would seem that as a community, our political sensibilities of culture is not a naivety, but actually the looking forward to being seduced and abandoned as “the way” forward.
I will not go into what this Obama has done for the rich and white %1 percent in the last four years.
For Obama has only been a “Buckwheat” for corporate capital, yes must we support “Buckwheat” Obama reelection, we must face this question in a very real way

    Dear Mister Malik,
I am confused by what you just said, your “Buckwheat” Obama that “yes, we must support ‘Buckwheat’ Obama reelection(?…)” For here I’m confused your “Buckwheat” Obama has spend nearly four years in the White House and single-mindedly defended the interests of the financial elite or in other words the “%1 percent.” While it has become noted politically obvious that he feels his most loyal base is infinitely gullibe, while it has been seen that your “Buckwheat” Obama has no interests in mobilizing his loyal Black base for his reelection campaign. I was wondering what is the reality check that we as black people should do? For our esteem Minster Farrakhan is just deals in moral axioms as political speech, while I do enjoy the dramtic theater of his speeches, but I am very aware they are simply “theater.”

As one person said a few weeks ago, that the president is the president of the United States, and must interpret the constitution for all the people, not the democrats, not just the reopblicans, not just for the christians but for all the people.
In framing your remarks about Obama support of gay marriage, and Farrahkan remark about him being a christian and support gay marriage, show that Farrahkan, is as much an a*s as any one else. What does expect Obama, to do hate gays?. He is the president of all the people, not straight people all the people.
He make sense most of the time, but sometime even he act the fool sometime. We all know if you speak truth in the United States you will be persecuted in public opinion, thanks to the allmighty that public opinion is not the ultimate judge of us all.
I strongly disagree with Mr. Obama’s foreign policies in the middle east, and I speak to that, but that does not means that I dislike him. I like him as a person, but I do not like his foreign policies, and I surely hate the person he choose to lead that policy. Yes, I said I hate Hillary Clinton, I cannot stand the b***h.

White Male Privilege is being challenged,
White Males themselves are chaffing at the bit ( as my grand daddy used to say) because it hurts them to their CORE TO HAVE TO RESPECT THIS BLACK PRESIDENT.
And everyone needs to get out and vote!
It is clearer than ever that a Majority of the White
Electorate would rather elect a Mormon Moron who would hurl this country into a George Bush style doomsday scenario for our economy, ( and by the way, won’t do Jack Diddly for the middle-class ) JUST to get that Black Family OUT of that White House.

It was virtually impossible to get black people at that time to cooperate with him….too many was afraid to because it appeared to be racist. Besides, it was 5 million, not eight and since it was given to a religious organization.. it was not required to be reported. If you really want to know…contact the NOI. At the million man march…monies had to be paid for cleaning up and use of the venue. There real question is what is happening to your tax dollar in support of Isreal…to overthrow middle eastern government who refuse to trade or treaty with Isreal. If we really pay attention to what is going on in Israel, we will see that Israel’s government is becoming one of the most corrupt in the world…with the support of our tax dollars. Our sympathy for the Jews is allowing them to mistreat Black Africans who cross Israel’s borders for security from tribal and Arab abuse in their home Countries, and the Jews are locking them up in concentration camps, reminiscent of those operated by Hitler.

Our only hope for the way our country is going is to return to God and prayer. I will vote for the man or woman that fight to right the wrongs of the greedy wealthy in government. For so long, they have taken advantage of the poor by stealing money and paying themselves million dollar bonus’ with citizen money.I don’t know what some of us is expecting from our residing President. if it’s jobs,he’s doing his best supporting and encouraging companies to keep business’ here in this country. He also encourages and supports the opening of new business’ that will put the people back to work. Education is also highly encouraged by this President so that the people will have the skills to work on the jobs when they become available. His Health care bill has already past. Now those that couldn’t afford health care will now be able to do so. A mojarity of the troops fighting in the war have returned home. Some say,he should speak directly to the black community. My question is, And say what? He speaks to the black community everytime he speaks…As well as the white and hispanic. This country did not get in a 15 trillion dollar debt over night, and won’t come out of one over night. As a President,Mr. Barack Obama has been fighting for the poor and middle class every since he stepped foot in office. It’s up to us citizens to come together and do the things that he requires of us.Those of you with money, opening up business’ for the people to work. Those of you that can further your education,go back to school and do just that. But for God’s sake, stop saying that this President haven’t spoke to the “black community” because he speaks to all people when he speaks. If you don’t go back to school, you won’t have the education. Those of you with money, if you don’t create jobs, you won’t have any, and that goes for every race in America.

President Obama, is Scotch-Irish black. He knew what he was getting into, and what to expect from some racist whites. Not all whites are racist, and remember; he is the President, because whites voted for him (and he is half-white). We need to spend less time talking about white racism, and to spend more time talking about black-on-black crime and black inertia-that is our real problem, not to overlook magic thinking. Our own people, are doing far worse to their own, and very little to help themselves in deference to a few caricatures and racist slogans.

Here’s a video with one of the most reasonable explanations for racism, even if you don’t agree with all of Rand’s philosophies.

Rand identifies the true nature of racism. http://www.LibertyPen.com

i agree with” jitu”", what happened to all that money, that the Nation collected over the years: five year programs, seven year programs, million man marches, ten year aniversary marches, etc.
Man , I really thought the nation was going to do something, besides taik. Then, regretabily, we found that, besides that farm the brother from A&T University is building, they were only “TALKING”. Speaking of not keeping your word! OR DID THEY REALLY TRY? BRO. RAP

@ Tameka & Tonia, well said, I keep saying over and over, let Romney get into office and we shall see. If we think times are bad right now let him win. PLEASE, PLEASE don’t get it twisted. We don’t have to love or even like OBAMA but we must vote. Not voting would be far worse than voting for the wrong candidate. IJS

I believe that if we committed more of our energy to action rather than criticizing and bashing President Barack Obama, we could accomplish a lot more. The same methods of devide and conquer are happening to us now as it has been for the last 400 years. Remember the willie lynch theory, I can show you slave maSTERS HOW TO CONTROL YOUR SLAVES FOR THE NEXT 400 YEARS OR LONGER!!! fIRST KEEP THEM DEVIDED BY SPLITTING UP THE FAMILY, SELLING THE THE SON, DAUGHTER, MOTHER AND FATHER TO DIFFERENT PLANTATIONS Always put a divisive spirit amongst them by putting the smart against the ones not so smart, the light skinned against the darked skinned, the field slave against the house slave etc… you get the picture. We are actually beion lynched right now in a sophisticated way and don’t know it. So let us get out and support President Barack Obama for re-election in the 2012 presidential election. We will not succumb to those old tactics and tricks as we did in the past.

Hearing Minister Farakhan preach is an enduring experience only exceeded by his mentors: The Hon. Elijah Mohammed & Malcom X. I remember these men and their times well…and Jim-Crow, Lynching & Burning of Blacks, mostly “Men,” was a National Disgrace—but not in Chicago; it is NOW—and its us! Killing ourselves! Weekend & Week-out! Let Min. Farakhan dwell-on-this-issue; home-fronts are sanctified 1st. As for Mr. Obama: he is a Muslim/Christian/Socialist-Democrat/Communist/Palistinian simpathyzer, who ordered Bin-Ladin shot without trial! The one thing we know Mr. Obama is not, is a Capitalist! If he were, white americans would be kissing-his-feet…”and I don’t mean Feet!” Whites put Mr. Obama in the “White House,” and Whites will remove him through the same “Electoral-College” process that put him in. Your vote my People, is only “The Popular Vote! This is what your “Leaders” won’t explain to you…Maybe they do not understand fully, themselves. I know Rev. Jackson knows…but he’s not giving any Civic Lessons, its not in his best interest…”Keep-Hope-Alive!”

Kudos to Farrakhan. I am neither Muslim nor Christian but I certainly respect Farrakhan much more than the many pimp preachers exploiting the ignorance of the black masses.

Oh I don’t know, I believe Farrakhan is one of the biggest haters on the plant. If he were in any other country, he would have disappeared 30 years ago.

Speaking of pimps, wonder why Muslims from the middle east who now live here don’t seem to care for him.

Does Dr.Boyce Watkins believe that we can read and think. He is a sorry excuse for misleading people who cannot think. I for one am not going along with his little plow to keep us posting so that he can make advertisement money?
I am not posting to this site or reading it from this day forward. He needs to be punished.

…WE must ALWAYS keep the enemy near & make them accounttable…I so agree BOYCE needs to be punished ! He continues to use OBAMA bashing headlines to get advertisment from ALL backers who HATE our PRESIDENT …I seen an AD saying ” DON’T RE-NIG ” by one of his advertissers on another site ! Remember people… Obama can make ALL the changes he wants in this next term…He has made history in so many ways in his first term…NOT VOTING FOR OBAMA MEANS YOU VOTED FOR ROMNEY !!!

My goodness! I got too upset. Let me correct the above post.

Dr. Watkins do not believe we can read or think. What he’s doing to get advertisement to this site is deplorable. Every human being should be held accountable, and so should Watkins. I don’t know if he believes all of that ‘crab’ stuff he writes about the President or not. But, if he has half the sense he thinks he has, he should know that his writings will make many unthinking blacks sit the day out in November. Then where does that get up? President Mitt Romney, another white president just like all the other white president–other than Lyndon Johnson–who has us in the position we are in now. I don’t need to go into our self-inflicted wounds to clarify the causes of disenfranchisement by the white establishment

Racial hatered will always be an issue until White folks stand-up,
protest and tell politicians they should turn this around. Only white folks can stop what they started.

From the very beginning – the President has been completely disrespected like no other – this new republician movement has done everything possible to undermine his efforts to work with all in Congress – they even agreed on some issues and now blame him for all the issues, even their own ideas – my heart breaks for President Obama and his family that this kind of treatment is still tolerated by the American people – I pray and hope that November will prove money doesn’t and can’t buy everything and that the people of this country stand for what’s right – please people get out and vote! It’s a scary time in America, God bless us all….

I just listened to a video that the United States is going to do something it hasnt done since 1901. And AMericans thin that these changes are not going to happen. But Obama has so much power behind him that he may be a 3x president. If not one of his proxys will. WOW we will C 2016! But more than likely it willbe Obama!
