His bad decision making was horrible and made me feel as if he was helping GZ!! He could have done better as a chief…good riddance, he can start over in armed security but Trayvon can’t!

The police chief did offer to resign after the killing of Trayvon Martin, but the equivalent of a City Council (I don’t know what that group is called in Sanford) refused to allow him to do that. This same body refused to allow him to retire because it would cost the city too much. Now that the Chief has been fired, he won’t receive a pension.

While I agree to a certain extent with Jose R. about his livelihood being taken away, I believe that he is required in most situations to follow social order to a large extent. If he is in fact responsible for the way that the police under his charge took care of this case, then I would say that he does not deserve another chance, however I do understand that sometimes that people will act on their own accord in response to certain situations. Regardless, I probably would’ve had more respect for the ex-police chief had he submitted his resignation over the lack of persistence in this case. At least then I might be able to argue for his case in being able to maintain his livelihood.

More to come. I am amazed that can kill someone and say “stand your ground” and it is not investigated right away. One wonders the value of a black human life in Florida and any stand your ground state

If he can still be a cop in other county in any of the fifty states than its an empty gesture, that is the bottom line! If that young prince lost his life in the literal sense then that man should lose his livelihood…and that is by no means a fair trade but at least its something! Now how about that heinous, “Stand Your Ground” law, can anyone say elimination?!!
