Mother Delivers Baby Boy All Alone on NYC Subway Train
Wanda Dueno did the unthinkable. The 24-year-old delivered her own baby boy in New York City subway on Wednesday morning.
Dueno was en route to her sister’s house in the Bronx at around 1:30AM when she began having contractions. Since there was no one else on the subway train but Dueno, she was forced to coach herself through the the birthing process.
At first she tried to stall delivery, but that didn’t work. And then Dueno hit the “Emergency” button, but help arrived too late.
By the time the train conductor arrived at her subway car, Dueno had given birth to a baby boy.
Dueno has named her son Libasse, but is actually soliciting people for a suitable nickname. Her sister suggested “MetroCard.”
According to the New York Post, MTA chief Joseph Lhota made the “joyous announcement” at yesterday’s agency meeting, saying, “I’m looking forward to meeting this little baby.”

Little Wanda Dueno must be an old spirit. What she did is unthinkable because it’s unheard of today. My paternal grandmother who was born into slavery in 1858 and learned midwifery from her mother told me she had delivered some of her own children. I was delighted to read about Wanda’s bravery and intelligence. God Bless her and her baby.
Now this is a story worth reporting.I would like to congratulate the new mom and her blessing little miracle and wish her and her family best wishes. Also, welcome a new little American to the country he will get to know as grow
She was not alone. Her HEAVENLY FATHER was with her! And he’s showing the whole earth his power!
That is probably the way it was done a million years ago. Mother Nature wants to make sure we don’t forget.
What a brave, strong woman. And that baby boy!! He looks so healthy, head full of hair. She is truly blessed that the delivery went fine and she didn’t have complications when medical care wasn’t available. Look at her smile.
