Is Michigan Declaring War on Women?

Michigan has taken a step too far in the eyes of the women with their new legislation on abortion that was introduced May 31st 2012 and passed June 17th 2012.  Within the bill, there are penalties to the poor who attempt to have an abortion but loop holes for the rich to become magically ‘unpregnant’, no questions asked.

Women have stepped up and have begun unionizing against it, calling the bill a ‘War on Women’.  Even Representative Lisa Brown was banned from speaking about the bill when she spoke about female G*******a.

The biggest issue people are having with bill is the punishments for having an abortion; women are not only affected, but men as well.  Coercion into an abortion carries a heavy fine up to $5,000 or $10,000 if the woman is a minor.  This mainly is towards husbands who try and force their wives to abort through threats or financial guilt and parents who try to convince their underage daughter to abort.  Even if the father of the fetus is a minor himself, he can still be fined up to $10,000 if he is found guilty of coercion.

On top of the fines, the bill also includes restrictions on who can have abortions.  Those who reside in rural areas are refused care, and new regulations have determined how fetal remains will be disposed of after the abortion is performed.  This has put a fright on pregnant women who may end up miscarrying and how they are treated.

The bill against abortions has created such an outrage; a group of women put together a Facebook page which has gathered over 17,000 women in protest against it. Together they have created an event that will take place from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Michigan Capitol Building on 100 North Capitol Ave.  The group is actually planning to perform the v****a Monologues on the steps of the state capital.
