In this video, Dr. Boyce Watkins discusses racism on university campuses, in hiring and promotion of African Americans. He uses the firing of Chester Grundy at The University of Kentucky as a prime example. Dr. Watkins has stated that African American scholars should take the lead in reclaiming what it means to be a black scholar in America. He also calls on all students, faculty, and alumni to reach back to their old campuses and ask for data on diversity with regard to the hiring and tenure of African American faculty.
