CNN’s Soledad O’Brien vs. Bay Buchanan: Is the Private Sector “Doing Just Fine?” [Video]
On this morning’s episode of Starting Point, CNN’s Soledad O’Brien and Bay Buchanan went at it, debating whether the private sector was “doing just fine”,
as Obama said, and whether America didn’t need anymore teachers and firefighters, as Romney said.
Romney strategist Bay Buchanan, also sister to far right winger Pat Buchanan, engaged in a bit of hyperbole when she said President Obama’s economic proposals were “crush[ing] the hopes and dreams of millions of Americans,” which tipped off a heated debate.
O’Brien made the point that Romney’s comments about firefighters and teachers was so incendiary that even Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker had distanced himself from them.
Buchanan defended Romney’s comment, saying that what Romney was trying to say was that President Obama doesn’t have a message.
“What we have is a president who has failed America,” Buchanan ranted, “who has crushed the hopes and dreams of millions of Americans.”
“Clearly this is going to be the argument that continues,” O’Brien ended, “with everyone yelling at each other.”
