Chicago Continues as a Killing Field: 14-Yr Old Murdered, and 13 Others Wounded

KultureKritic.com Staff Writer

Chicago continues to be a national center for youth homicides, after a 14-year old boy was killed Friday night in conjunction with 13 other wounds from gunfire on the same day.  Last Friday, there was a gang related shooting near the Lincoln Park Zoo, according to police.

Antonio Davis was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head, according to police.  The boy was walking with a friend when a van pulled next to him and opened fire, according to police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.

The shooter kept firing on the boy even after he hit the ground.

“He shot him while the victim was down several times,’’ Perez said.

Police have not yet found a suspect for the shooting.

A second shooting left someone wounded in the park north of the Lincoln Park Zoo.   Three more victims were in a separate city location when several vehicles pulled up alongside them and opened fire.

“One vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a 25-year-old man,’’ said Perez. “It then made a u-turn and hit a 21-year-old woman.’’

Police are saying that this shooting was also gang related.  A series of other shootings also took place on the same night.  Chicago is gaining a growing reputation for its homicides, labeling it as one of the most dangerous cities in America.

Call me crazy, but something is telling me this is not all gang related. The shootings are too d**n random and every weekend Chicago is a hotbed of unspeakable violence in America. I’m not saying gangs are not involve, but I feel there is a bigger story underneath this merging rate of inexcusable homicides in that city.

Here we go again being murdered by an unknown suspect. When will this stupidity stop? and How long will it continue? and What needs to be done about these so called “Police Officers” that always pointing the finger at someone else making it look like it was gang related.

Where is the outcry from Chicago residents to stop this madness? It appears they are not concerned that they or their family members could be next??

Where is Jesse Jackson and Minister Farrakhan in the midst of all of this craziness? They want to cure the world while the city they live in goes buckwild.

They are in the same place you are. In their home watching it on the news. It’s going to take more then Farrakhan and Jesse Jackson to fix this problem.. How is it that we take a stand when some one white kills our children such as Zimmerman but black on black murder is the norm?

Install surveillance cameras on every corner, if the residents complain about privacy, then let them! No one wants to depart this earth before their time!

This has gotten out of hand! Gang related or not, we have to do something to stop this maddness. To lose a young man or woman so young in life is tragic. To lose them to gun violence should cause our nation to wakeup and go hard after these cowards.

Also to the people being critical of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the Honorable Farrakhan. I understand and see your point. But how many more speeches and rallies do they have to do before we the citizens start doing our jobs? Rev. Al and Jesse Jackson, along with the Honorable Farrakhan are constantly talking and using their various connections and resources trying to reach out to black and latino groups about the dangers of guns and using their smarts to avoid deadly situations. We gotta do our parts.

My heart and prayers go out to the families of these young victims. We gotta do our part to stop this mess.

Marshall Law may be the answer, the police need help. Again all of this violence starts at home with failed parenting!!

Thank you, Theprovider, you are so correct. It start in the home, which many of these young men do not have. The black family in much of the inner city, is non-existent. Usually a single mom is trying to manage several kids. This is a national disgrace. Actually, it is an international disgrace!!!

When will black people realize we just love killing each other? And no one says anything. One white man kills a black person (a tragedy, no doubt) and we are all in the streets marching. But a black man kill a black man the silence is sinful. One can even look at
Africa and see the genocide going on over there. There has got to be something in the genes. I hope the scientists find out what it is and cure us before we are all dead

I would not doubt it if chicago cops are doing it so they can get more cops on the force and turn it into a police state not the first time they have done something like that just to start a riot

I cant say its your color or even in your genes, for some reason the black youth is angry….at anyone. I dont live in Chicago so I cant say it is or aint the police…but lots of people had to have seen what happened daytime ..the zoo . Gangs are everywhere..maybe, but regardless people are being killed. I have 2 boys grown now, but i was a single mom. Its hard. Boys espestcally need father figures. So maybe grand fathers ..uncles of these boys can step in while theyre young and help mold them into men early. If every one would help one child thats just one more off the streets. Who says its EASY..its not ….but lets say if someone anyone cares ….its a start..

This is truly sad, I grow up in south centeral Los Angeles and was part of the gang life I vowed that my children would not have to live where regard for human life was non existing. Can we as a community make this happen?

Is the love of cars, drugs, so called respect from others and the I gotta get mine attitude more important than what the creator had in mind for his peole upon creation.

Helping another person to secueed is more satisfying than taking a life.

Think about this, to all you real men, we don’t have to be a father to be a father figure, All that is needed is for more men to stepup and be real men. You know just cause you can make babies don’t mean you are a man. Also, just because you don’t have babies don’t mean your a man either.

Sometimes being a man can be just as confusing as the above statement, but it is well worth it.
