Baltimore County Delegate Warns of “Roving Black Youth Mobs”, Asks Gov. to Send in State Police
The heat is still turned up in Baltimore County after a delegate warned back in May of ”roving mobs of black youths” at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, causing some to ask if he’s playing the race 
card.

Del. Patrick L. McDonough, a Republican whose district includes part of Harford County, distributed a news release with the headline: “Black Youth Mobs Terrorize Baltimore on Holidays.” In it, McDonough said he had sent a letter to Gov. Martin O’Malley urging him to use the state police to help prevent attacks and to declare the Inner Harbor area a “no-travel zone” until safety can be guaranteed.
McDonough’s message, which came on the last day of a General Assembly special session, offended some colleagues who thought it gratuitously highlighted the issue of race.
“It’s a throwback to the ’50s and ’60s, and it’s obviously race-baiting,” said Del. Keiffer J. Mitchell Jr., a Baltimore Democrat who offered to take McDonough on a guided tour of the Inner Harbor on a weekend night.
Since that time, the delegate has said that he maintains his view, which was partly blamed on an attack of a white man after he attended a St. Patrick’s Day celebration in March. It is unclear whether people are taking McDonough seriously enough to abandon the Harbor for fear of angry black youth.

Sad to say he’s right, they’re everywhere! If we were talking about groups of black respectable youths id be no problem, bit there’s groups of hard, headed, disrespectful, pants saggin, rude Nigglets rovin about @ all times of night & something needs to be done if they pisspoor parents can’t keep a handle on them. Flat Out. Call it race if you want! But I see it also & I’m a black man with a black wife & black children & I approve this message!
I feel you, man… it is like that in my hometown, too. I believe that lack of employment, age specific activities, and lack of parenting are factors.
I read about and saw the Youtube on the St. Paddy’s Day attack…pretty sad. It makes Black folks scared to go places, too.
I think cities need a curfew, as well as undercover cops that look very youthful. As for a curfew, I’m not sure if one can be imposed for young adults (like 19-22).

Mike J., it is sad, but I do agree with you, and it is everywhere in this Country, and if people are offended, then they should do something to change the behavior. Lord knows, I have raised four sons, three grown, and a 17 year old. Not one of them dare walk around with their pants sagging because I will embarrass that a*s in public…..BAD. And they know, if the Police call my house, it had better be a case of mistaken identity, or there will be h**l to pay. I am not having it. I also approve your message Brother.

I am sick and tired of people jumping on the band wagon as soon as someone accuses some of us (so called Black people) of “doing c**p” as if so called White people don’t do c**p. We are no more or less violent than they are. If you believe that we are then you need to stop believein’ so many of the movies, television shows, and news reports that you view.
Some of us hate ourselves so much what ever someone says about us that is negative must be true–look at our skin color, everything Black is evil even the people. Isn’t it strange how so called White people can cut each other down on school campuses, blow up Federal buildings killing hundreds, have a 25-40 weapons in their home, gun down unarmed people because they look “funny”, etc and we get taged as violent so the city police must call for back up because of what we might do!
C’mon people over come self hatred. Every people group regardless of skin color have individuals among them who commit crime. Yes, others get away with it far more than we do. Yes, our criminals will be and have been on the news loop more than theirs. But it doesn’t mean we’re evil or less than because our skin is so called Black.
And remember if Mitt”the liar” Romney (the 1% candidate) wins on November that will embolden the racist, bigoted, violent, and White Supremist elements of this country.

This is some of the dumbest stuff I have ever read and some of the comments are a natural display of ignorance that has plague this country. Why is it the actions of some individual black people has to represent the entire black population? Are some of you people blind to the crimes and violence committed largely by the white community? Sadly, the answer is yes. Nevermind the fact whites represent nearly 80% of violent crimes in this country, however stories lambasting the white criminals and the social ills of the white community are rarely (if ever) seen. This is done by design. Simply review the statistics of crime by state and city and you will find whites as the number one offenders of violence. But rarely are the evening news stories focus on them. Instead, as always, the news focus primarily on blacks as the criminals roving the streets. So basically, people want it to be legal for ONLY BLACK PEOPLE to be subject to harassment and given a curfew because of the actions of a some black teens? They want it to be LEGAL for some of our rights to be restricted, nevermind the fact we are Americans and this is against the law. Meanwhile, white teens engage in drug dealing, drag racing, date rape, violent bullying, and etc. by large and wide and nothing is said. Why? Because it is something call white privilege. The privilege to do heinous acts of violence and your race is not call out on it. Your race isn’t subject to yet another racially tinge tirade that is attacking your community with stereotypes and inaccurate information. Your race doesn’t have to worry about others gathering together on message boards picking you apart and cosigning with legal racism for the sake of restoring white supremacy. What the h**l do most of you people think will happen if such a law is pass? ALL BLACKS would suffer and it doesn’t matter if you are an upstanding citizen. Basically, if you are black you MUST pay for any and all crimes done by other black people while whites are free to sit back, point fingers, and continue to spew their racial hate in your direction. Is this for real, What can these young black youth be doing that all these other races of people haven’t done already. I don’t get it why is this fat man pretending that he’s afraid whiles he’s helping to start a race riot. Again the Black youth will be blamed for all the violent act that other do.
This has nothing to do with self hate. However, I live in Baltimore County and have decided to discontinue visit the Inner Harbor do to unruly teenagers and their activities. Unfortunately, the population of these troublemakers are African American. It is not surprising since Baltimore City is highly populated with low income African American. Not every black juvenile that visit the Inner Harbor is a troublemaker but due to the repeated incidents that occur within this area that have been troublesome African American delinquents the respectable African American youths are open to be targeted as such. This has been a problem for years. The unfortunate thing is the governors implemented projects to rebuild the city they haven’t invested in delinquent preventative projects. They wait till they get commit crimes to then give then assistance through the judicial system. Something must be done. Any ideas??
Education, mentoring, self-building and male-mentoring programs. I do know that all of the fore-mentioned contributors to this article are passionate about this urban/inner city dilemma. It is not an isloated occurence; Chicago, LA, Detroit Michigan , Flint Michigan and New York to name the major hubs of Black on Black violence. You see, the paradigm to educate and empower Black youth (males) is not the job of the oppressors. Mentoring programs and even relocation sponsorships are need to disallow a concentration of our youth where education and employment are not adequately supplied. The act of not teaching persons of color about their “potential” and “possibility(s)” to be productive citizens is not assisting in building self-esteem or self worth in our young folk. Stop complaining and start gaining your confidence to not become a part of the problem but offer solutions. Please explore Benjamin Banneker, Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X and others and see what has been done. Encourage fathers to stop spreading their seed with women whom they don’t care to co-parent with; girls and boys need to see their biological fathers and not mama’s man of the week. Lastly, ask FATHER GOD in the name of JESUS CHRIST to guide your efforts of empowerment and not finger point so much. Due to the books of social-scientists in “Kill Them Before They Grow” by Michael Porter and “Savage Inequalities” by Jonathan kozol I know that we are being targeted in ESE/ESOL, family courts are pipelines to jail. Let’s not be willing victims. GODspeed!
All I can say is the New Jim Crow is alive and well in too many minds. It is scary how African Americans continue to allow others to define who they really are through negative words. Read and learn your history instead of allowing others to continue to teach you and your children. What culture of people have allowed others to teach them as well as their children their history? That’s what integration has done for the African American community. Ask yourself, why do I allow the enemy to teach my child and why do I allow the stupid tube (television) to babysit my child. READ AND LEARN YOUR HISTORY ! Start today to become part of the solution, don’t continue the Willie Lynch syndrome.
