Cory Booker’s Communications Director Resigns

Cory Booker’s communications director Anne Torres has resigned, according to the Washington Post. Her departure comes only a week after Booker roused anger among Democrats by defending Bain Capital on ‘Meet the Press’.

Torres confirmed her departure, saying,  “I just decided it is best if I pursued other opportunities. We have very different views on how communications should be run.”

Torres’ resignation comes after a week of Booker trying to walk back his defense of private equity companies, including Bain Capital.

Booker first released a YouTube video which was immediately derided by Republicans as a hostage video, and then appeared on the Rachel Maddow Show to explain himself. Booker also sent a strange tweet which read, “Sorry I make you sick.”

It obviously wasn’t a good week for Booker, and the clean-up of his ‘Meet the Press’ flub was almost as bad as his comments. But it’s difficult to know whether the fault lies with Torres or Booker. There’s no way to know whose idea it was for Booker to make that horrid YouTube video or send those silly tweets.

I don’t get the point of this article. Newark Mayor Cory Booker’s Communications Director Ann Torres resigns, after Booker made some ill advised statements and an ineffectual explanation on national TV. I hope Ann Torres finds a job soon, I the meantime there is a job opening on the Mayors Staff. This is not eactly good gossip material.
