Mitt Romney’s Campaign Accused of Excluding African Americans Almost Entirely
After a long primary season, Mitt Romney begins his contest with Barack Obama without having attracted any notable black endorsers, surrogates, or high-ranking campaign staffers.
So far, Romney’s highest-profile endorsement from a black supporter might be Aubrey Fenton, a former Burlington County New Jersey freeholder, and there are no African-Americans in the top ranks of the campaign. The two black Republicans in Congress, Tim Scott and Allan West, still haven’t endorsed the party’s nominee-apparent. The Romney campaign, which often touts its support from Hispanics, women, and other groups, did not provide any information about black supporters or staffers in response to several requests from The Daily Beast.

Mitt Romney is well over 60 years old, quite naturally he was brought up with some of the antiquated beliefs that Mormons had (and maybe still have) concerning blacks. If you notice, he has managed to not discuss his beliefs on race relations in America. Since he is prone to making gaffes, should he express his true thoughts concerning black Americans it would most likely end his race of the presidency. He will at least and eventually receive an endorsement from someone like Allen West because eventhough West is black he hates the black race almost as much as most tea party members hates the black race. In short, Mitt Romney is actually hurting his chances of beating President Obama. He has already distanced himself from both the women and Hispanic/Latino vote, which is two of the most important votes in America today. He has identified women as being merely a special interest group, which most women have found to be very insulting. President Obama’s assurance of over 90% of the black vote, along with the Democratic, women, Gay, Latino and other minorities should make for a great election year. Romney will of course enjoy the support of older white men but let’s not forget that during the GOP primaries these same old white men tried to start an “anybody but Romney” campaign which in itself is very telling. Romney was the worst front-runner in GOP history and the fact that someone as weak as Rick Santorum managed to win 11 primaries tells me that he has his work cut out for him when stands toe to toe with the greatest politician of the 21st century so far.
